Sold a striker before we are able to register another striker? Nonsensical decision making.

If we do go down, the triumvirate of Purslow, Suso and Smith will be roasted for this, among other things of course. Completely agree that this is next-level weird. Would rather have lost Kodjia in summer for nothing and still have him available for exactly the kind of crisis we currently find ourselves in. Even if he was being arsey and didn't want to be here, this doesn't look clever at all from the club. All Purslow had to do was tell the buyers that they needed to wait another week until we could confirm paperwork for our replacement.

Poor show by the club in their official announcement of Kodjia going. The Aston Villa I know has more class than that.
Thanks Kodj and good luck!

Maybe he's been a total arsehole and deserves no thanks whatsoever.

Even McCormack got a thank you, however insincere.

True. Maybe Kodhia refused to play for us ever again, even with the fact we had no other strikers.

We've now thanked him and wished him luck.

Not really, firstly Kodjia would be of no more use (as proven in recent run outs) than Vassilev right now

Not to mention we have the rumours of him refusing to be on the bench. I honestly think Jimmy might've been in danger of thinking he was good enough for this level, and he was sadly deluded if he did

I wish him well and thank him for the good memories before it went to shit though obviously

Kodjia has hardly been available recently and when he was, he didn't look interested. Was he really an option in the team or on the bench.

It's a bit like having an old car that you leave in the garage and use the bus. One day you decide to buy a new car. You get 'We buy any car' in and sell the old banger before buying your new car. The wife then turns around and says "what are you going to do if you need to go out in the car?".

Rusty analogy that!

Puns aside I don't get how you can suggest he wouldn't be a viable option given the situation we're in. People are suggesting starting Vassilev - an 18-year-old midfielder with no starts under his belt - up front by himself. That's how bad things are. Even a disinterested Kodjia was clearly the best option available to us for tomorrow's game. But nah, we've sold him. More old rope off the books and a few quid in the bank, great.

I'd rather Indiana Jones than Kodja. Indi probably ran more in 20 odd minutes and did more with four touches, than Kodjoa has done all season.

Compare his cameo at Spurs, the extreme lethargy in comparison to youthful dog chasing car exuberance. It put Dunk under and dragged us higher.

Nobody wants to be relying on a small, 18 year old. But then nobody wants to be relying upon a half arsed player either. Besting a team of kids and playing a 2nd division mob is no mark of much at all.

I remember a disinterested Gabby away at Spurs, the year we went down. A traffic cone would have been more use that night.

Finally the club do the right thing, pressured no doubt by the tw-tter reaction. A club being run correctly shouldn't have to be reminded of their responsibilities to its fans.
Next thing they need to sort out is to sign a
f-cking striker!

More or less the same team that knocked Everton out of the cup.
