To me the only part that needs change is up front (hence Messi).  Apart from that, I think there's a genuinely top quality side there.

And there was me thinking you had some genuine ITK.

Still seen no injury updates re gestede and Tshibola? The former more important here given other options

We have to start winning games like this.  A creditable draw will start to see us marooned in the mid table region and we can't afford for that to happen, however early in the season it is.

this totally

after the worzels, friar tucks and the barcodes we need to be in the top 6

On the basis that Amavi, Tish and Gestede are not fit or injured...

                       Gollini

De Laet   Elphick    Chester   Cissokho

                    Jedinak

        Bacuna             Westwood

                    Grealish

          MCormack       Ayew

1-1 or 2-2 or could be 0-0.

Away win.

This sort of tricky away fixture could define our season.  I expect us to pick up a lot of home wins, but whether we can grind out results in games such as this could prove the difference between us getting promotion or not.

Wouldn't go as far as to say its must win at this stage.  But I do think a win would put us in a fairly healthy position at this stage.  I expect a pretty tidy football match but perhaps not a lot in the way of goal mouth action, and a some nervious defending from ourselves as we bed the new signings in.  1-1 Ayew to get off the mark for the season.

De Laet   Elphick    Chester   Cissokho

                    Jedinak

        Bacuna             Westwood

                    Grealish

          MCormack       Ayew

I like the diamond option for many of our players though I don't think that midfield three works too well. Westwood wouldn't be comfortable on the left of the three.

Either way, I can't see any sign we'll ditch the current formation. On the same assumption above, I'd go:

Gollini - de Laet elphick Chester cissokho - bacuna Westwood Jedinak grealish - McCormack - ayew

Subs: bunn baker Richards Gardner Green kozak RHM

ditch westwood for amavi and that looks ok

its a must win for me  as we need to start killing teams off as we dont want to be 6-8 points of the top two by mid september

We need to make sure we don't patronise clubs like this or be over confident.

Bumpkins 0 Villa 7.

Agreed.

We need to show that we respect these cider drinking sister fuckers, but not too much respect mind.

Should I avoid threads about this fixture ?
