And in the sunshine.  And with a great away support. ..

Pity the game has to start!

Perhaps we should have held on to Sinclair...just come off bench and scored.

The midfield looks fucking awful
Upfront looks decent but I second your thoughts to the 3 in the middle.

Yeah looks a very strong forward line up, but they might not get in the game with that midfield
True, how long will Gary Gardner get until we say ta-ra mate. Feels like a decade and still haven't seen him do anything ... same for Westwood too.

Bacuna all be it the arse-hole he is does pop up with the odd good cross or shot.

Not sure if Gardner has ever played a dozen consecutive games for us to judge him effectively.
I wonder why he hasn't!

I think he'll get the chance this season. I don't think he's going to be the great player we predicted several years ago but he could be more than adequate for this season.

Bacuna is in to provide Gestede with a decent crossing service. He will knock it down for McCormack to finish off......I hope!

That line up kind of screams, 'Meet the new Villa, same as the old Villa' to me. Early days though, and I just hope we can nick a one-nil, or at least a point.

And how many times did Bacuna manage to do that last season?

I wonder just how we'll line up. 3 in mid, or Westwood and Gardner deep as a two, and Bacuna right, Ayew left, with RM behind RG?
I'd go for the latter myself.

I'm not a huge Westwood fan by any stretch but lets be honest people, he's more than good enough for this division. Granted I'd much rather he was on the bench as back up for a better player on the pitch, but I think he'll do alright. Likewise Gardner looks good at this level. Given Westy didn't show the piss poor attitude of some, and it genuinely seemed to matter to him (the lad was in tears when we finally were confirmed for the drop), I'm clean slating him.
Bacuna on the other hand has a lot to do to win me round, but he's another one. If he hits some form and some consistency, he's okay at this level. He's got enough pace and a fair enough cross that he'll do alright as winger at this level. BUT...like I say. He's got a lot to do to win me round (not as much as Gabby or Richards by any stretch).

I'd have had Bennett ahead of Cissokho, but with a line up this attacking I'd hope we just keep Aly back. There's no point him coming past the half way line too much. Same goes for Hutton.

A mate of mine, who's well versed in the Championship says that a good striker will get you a long way. There are a lot of pish looking midfields. A couple of solid blocks at the back, a scorer up top will see you well. Were we to bring Jedinak in, I think that would go a long way to making us stand above a lot of sides in this division who are fancied for the top half.

Glad to see Ross making his debut today.

To an extent. 3 new players in key areas from last season. I think we'd all like to have seen that dominant midfielder in by now but it's a marathon not a sprint. The season won't be defined on today's result.

Exactly. He's the one for me that screams 'garbage'. Attitude, skill, haircut..all atrocious. If he bangs one in from 30 yards, i'll strip naked and run across Tokyo

I think he'll look decent in this division, if he knuckles down and just nail him down and decide once and for all what his position is. He's a decent championship winger in theory. I hope the practice starts today. He and Westwood and the fullbacks I think are playing to stay. I want them fired up because Tony seems intent on bringing in more players.

He managed it when Benteke was in the side at times, I think Gestede just takes up poor positions so you don't have the option to hit him to hurt the opposition.
