Ronaldo  has pulled just clear for me because his goals to games ratio just keeps on being nothing short of unbelievable. He just isn't slowing down. Messi is just a fraction behind him now. Plus, I think Ronaldo is more capable on the international front of dragging his team through to finals and being the man everything goes through for success - very similar to maradona.

This.

Did he drag them through though? I would argue that they had a very easy run through and as they were seeded 4th it wasn't seen as a poor Portugese team. France was the only Pot 1 team they met and he went off after 25 minutes in that match. I suppose you could argue he stopped them from losing to Hungary in the group stages which would have put them out. You could argue he inspired them as team captain but then you would have to give Terry the credit for Chelsea winning the European Cup for the same reason.

The Portugese team is built around Ronaldo whilst recent Argentinian managers have not done the same with Messi. Was it Maradona when manager who said the key player was Mascharano?

The thing is, Messi scored more goals this season and also set up a bunch, so I'm not really sure the numbers show anything.

I still think Messi's better, but I think it's ridiculously impressive what Ronaldo's been able to achieve in competition with Messi given that it's arguably only been the last 18 months where Madrid have been more competently run and/or have a better squad than Barcelona. Before that, Messi got to play with Pep/Xavi/Iniesta for a few years and then got one year with Neymar and Suarez before Xavi buggered off to sell his soul to the highest bidder, while Ronaldo had to deal with dramas every year like Mourinho falling out with half the squad, or Florentino ditching squad balance for the next shiny toy.

Just watched England U20's qualify for the U20's World Cup Final after beating Italy 3-1. First World Cup final for an England Team since 1966. They have played very well and deserved their final place. Playing Venezuela in the final.

After that I watched England U20B beat Scotland 3-0 in the semi final of the Toulon tournament, so that's two finals for young England this weekend.

Hopefully we can have a trio of wins from England this weekend.

What's encouraging is all the age group teams seemingly making progress. We've always been there or there abouts with the U21s but at last we seem to have a conveyor belt from U17 right the way through. Progressive planning, thinking and coaching from the FA!! I'm off for a lie down....

Andorra beat Hungary.

Sometimes things like this happen and it reminds me why I love football so much. I can't think of any other team sports where a team could beat another team ranked so much higher than them. The emotion the Andorra players showed after that win was amazing, a day they will remember for the rest of their lives.

HT 0-0. Not very convincing by England so far. How long during the half time discussions before Ian Wright refers to Hoddle as 'Gaffer'.

Not too bad. England looking more dangerous but you never know, we could always sneak it. Still terrified of English pace against our statuesque centre backs.

England do everything but score. Scotland are wank and England aren't much better. Even the atmosphere seems crap compared to when I were a lad.

QP is shite for atmosphere. The fans are too far from the pitch. Should've been at Celtic or Ibrox.
