Messi requires Xavi and Iniesta type players to truly benefit, Ronaldo does not.

Sorry that's nonsense. Have you ever seen some of the sensational individual goals hers scored? He makes/made them better and vice versa. And he's done with Suarez and Neymar since amongst others. He'd tear then PL several new ones if played now let alone at the height of his powers a few years back.

Nathan Baker can head a brick, doesn't make him better than Messi.

No, Ronaldo just thinks he does not, which is why you often see him petulantly berating team-mates who have the audacity to pass to someone other than him. And he's hardly playing alongside Ashley Westwood is he?  If he was I could maybe understand him behaving like a toddler who's dropped his Haribos in a puddle.

I see Messi as a freak of nature whereas Ronaldo is a product largely of hard work and training. There'll be another Ronaldo but never another Messi.

It's Messi all day for me.

As good as Ronaldo is, I can't warm to such a self obsessed prick.

Messi at Stoke on a February night...not a chance.

Well Messi can't do any worse at Stoke than Ronaldo did with 0 goals there. Mind you that was a Friday in December so probably doesn't count.

Googling Ronaldo's record at Stoke is some way to back up Messi! Fair Play.

Well you are only as good as your last game and Ronaldo scored two goals to pick up a Champions League medal. Shall we leave it there.

Ronaldo  has pulled just clear for me because his goals to games ratio just keeps on being nothing short of unbelievable. He just isn't slowing down. Messi is just a fraction behind him now. Plus, I think Ronaldo is more capable on the international front of dragging his team through to finals and being the man everything goes through for success - very similar to maradona.
