Don't know a great deal about him but he obviously fancies the challenge of helping us get back up and that's the kind of player we need.

Seems to be exactly what we need at this stage. People have said there are doubts about his footballing ability, but Bournemouth were one of the most stylish teams in the division that year so I'm sure he'll be good enough for us in the division this year.

A shrewd first signing.  Hopefully a sign that the new broom is going to soon be sweeping out some of the shit in the dressing room.

The first player RDM has identified is the captain of a team that won promotion. A good person and a leader. I have no doubt he will be the new captain of Aston Villa.

I notice that the OS announcement puts as much weight on his character as his footballing ability.  Hopefully the first step into turning the dressing room into a zero tolerence zone for the self serving bollocks that passed for team spirit last season.

Cut his hooneymoon short by 5 days..

"When a team like Aston Villa comes calling you have too be willing too make sacrifices such as losing 5 days of your hooneymoon"

Fantastic commitment already. That's the sort of player I want in the team.

Sounds like a 1950's footballer, or an Ealing Comedy star. I think he'll prove a good signing. An old school defender with a bit of fire in his belly. Good age too. Had he not got his injury he'd probably still be a bedrock in Bournemouth's defence.

It looks a very sensible piece of business and that's why I'm wrapt with this one.

Despite being believed to be surplus to Howe's side at PL level, we'll possibly get Elphick's best years. I'm also glad the Dr is allowing his new manager to crack on really quickly with transfer dealings. No mucking about.

We need senior pros to set the tone on the pitch and in the dressing room. Judging by the comments coming out of Bournemouth it is a very good start.
