Yes it does, that's why I don't expect us to be struggling to stay up. The same huge problems will still be there though with the same set of players, it wasn't a one off, we've been consistently terrible for years.

There's no voice in the middle and no focus point to the attack.

How are we going about scoring our goals? What's the game plan? What are our strengths to exploit? We have no idea and haven't had one for over 12 months. Too many players who are nothing players.
We are shite and deep down we all know we are.

Do we?
I, since 1973 when Aston Villa took hold of me, have never seen a worse set up from top to bottom. It may be my age, but name me one player or one aspect of the club that instills any hope for a return to the glory years? We are definitely shitter than 87-88.

A new owner and manager? That's two. Also, maybe don't hope for a return to "the glory years" just yet. Promotion would be great for starters. Actually, just some steady progress would be good. And giving the new regime more than a few weeks would be reasonable.

But at this moment in time I still think we are shite

Can I suggest you just give up, FF? I think it's for the best.

I'm not in denial, I'm not suicidal over the fact that we've just won a pre-season friendly and I don't take kindly to anyone who think that "we" all secretly agree with them but are somehow refusing to say it.

Im not suicidal neither ,just cant understand how anyone thinks that the 11 that started today aren't a pretty  poor bunch of footballers, bordering on shite.

I think that's a good point - what happened to the win despite not playing well attitude ?

Last Monday Di Matteo told the Guardian that Villa was a house that had to be torn down and rebuilt. Fair point, but its not something he can do in a couple of months. Please give him time. Last year a dozen players went and 13 or so arrived and it was a mess from the start.

This year we have three players in, two contracts expired and two left the country - Crespo and Gil - with more to be moved on. But who wants to sign players as dire as last year's group were? THough Kieran Richardson may get a club and N'Zogbia is trying to get a new contract with Sunderland. 3 in four gone is not a major rebuilding job and its work in progress. I doubt we can get many changes before August 7th so its likely we will start with most of last years players. Patience please. Rome was not built in a day.

With due respect, maybe give the new manager and owner more than a few weeks to try and sort this pile of shite out. On another thing, Villa are so much worse than the mighty Newcastle. Are we really?

Where have I complained about the manager and chairman? All I've said is this set of players are not good enough to get promoted. There's little to no strength, skill or pace in the team and I believe anyone who thinks otherwise is fooling themselves in the same way they did last season before it dawned on us all that we were a total shambles.

We need qualities added to the side and we need them fast.

There is no doubt Di Matteo has a lot of work to do in a short space of time.Is he up to the job only time will tell.Give him a couple of months to make obvious improvements. He was Ok at West Brom for a long period in this league so he should know what it takes to get us out of it.

I see no reason why we won't be competitive in the League this season. No need to "panic Mr Mainwaring"

Thanks goodness. The Dover situation is horrific but I guess necessary at the moment.
