We have the Albion 4 miles north west who average 20,000 home support. We have the Noses 4 miles due east who average 13,000 home support, but took 600,000 to Bruges. We have the Wolves 12 miles further due West who average 18,000 and Coventry 25 miles south east who average 8,000 home support. Finally 8 miles north we have Walsall who average around 4000 home support.

All in roughly the same area as Newcastle and Sunderland you have a load of clubs who average collective 60,000 every week. Taking into account that it's not the same fans everyweek then you're talking about 70-80,000 non-Villa match goers in a relatively small space. Only London is more congested and the population is many times larger.

The Midlands might seem like a one team place, but our no mark brethren to use up some oxygen.

Was flicking through the programme and was amazed to read the attendances bit to find Sunderland have had only two sub 40k crowds in the league this season, Palace which was on a Tuesday night and they still got 39k and Swansea who brought 400 fans.

Their away support is very good aswell, took 2.5k to Palace on a Monday night.

Sunderland almost give their tickets away to keep the place full and encourage everybody to go there. Their season tickets are also one of the cheapest in the PL and they've even reduced the prices for next season.

As for their traveling support on a Monday night in London, I'd imagine most of their fans there actually down there. The ones I've met are all good lads and I hope for them Sunderland stay up.

I don't know what I think about Sunderland, the way they handled Adam Johnson would make it difficult to feel any pity if they went down.

To me, the only reason to want Sunderland to stay up is that they're not Newcastle.

To me, the only reason to want Sunderland to stay up is that they're not Newcastle.

On a pure football considerations basis, if I were a neutral, I'd be begging and praying for us, Newcastle and Sunderland to go down.

Us. Shit in more ways than you'd think possible for 1 club.
Newcastle. Not the country's second favourite team, don't believe the hype etc. etc.
Sunderland. Have us to thank for not being the worst team in the top flight over the last 4 years without getting relegated.

It's like something from the shithouse thread and now there's finally a chance to flush 3 mega turds away on one flush.

You just know there will be loads of fat, horrible Geordies spilling onto the pitch next weekend as Townsend or that lunatic scores.

I actually don't mind Sunderland in   comparison to the other two.

Newcastle are a big club no arguments  there, but has always been  a horrible place to visit and I hate Sports Direct.

As  for the pigeons - never liked them from John Bond onwards.

Nothing will be concluded next week as Sunderland could still easily overtake Newcastle who have Spurs last day let's not forget.

Us 0-2 Newcastle
Sunderland 1-1 Chelsea

Sunderland 2-1 Everton

Newcastle 2-1 Spurs
Watford 0-1 Sunderland

Sunderland 39 points
Newcastle 39 points (Newcastle relegated on GD).

There's still a long way to go and why any Geordie mocking will be a little bit premature regarding their own situation.

Sunderland will get beaten by Chelsea and Everton, no danger.

Spurs will be in their flip flops by the last game.

You seen Everton and Chelsea much this season?!

Sunderland were pretty decent v Arsenal, I think they've got at least one win in them left this season.
