Westwood cares. He's just not regular first team material especially at PL level.

Agree TV.  He's like the person who goes out without someone way more attractive than them.  They desperately hold on when it is plain for everyone to see that they would be better off and far happier with someone more every matched.  At the right club, Westwood could be a club stalwart and a fans favourite.

I think it still remains that at a decent standard, he can only play in one role - the holding role in a midfield three with two athletic players either side of him.  It is not surprising that he has had his best games when that has been the case (Lambert's first season with Sylla and Delph either side and under Sherwood with Cleverley and Delph).

He needs to be at a mid to lower table Championship club

I refuse to accept we will be anything less than top 3 next season. Obviously the reality could be very different but there has been way too much lowering our standards. Now when we are apparently rebuilding is the time to raise them back to approriate levels.

The bar for any player or manager should be "Will they be a key figure in winning the league?" if the answer is "no" then they should not be part of the club.

Was speaking to a Wolves fan tonight and he said the reason they  went down again was because they kept the same wastrels that took them down to the Championship
We need to get rid whatever the cost

Totally and absolutely agree.
Let's set a statement of intent from day 1.
Not just promotion, but we intend to go up as champions.

Westwood was the only player to show any emotion yesterday. In tears at the end. Despite the flak he has on here I so genuinely believe he is one of the few that cares. In a decent midfield he can so a job.

Westwoods one of the few decent guys at the club and clearly cares.  He just isn't a good standard.

He's worth keeping next year as a squad player. I think pushed a little bit forward and with less defensive responsibility he'd be alright at championship level. But whilst he's well short of being Prem quality, fair enough he's at least got a better attitude than a lot of the shysters at the club. He doesn't get pictured in Shisha bars or passed out in the road with a bottle of vodka in his hand, or tweet pictures of cars after humiliating defeats, etc, etc. In those respects he's the exception and not the norm in our squad. The twats outnumber the good sorts.

Have to disagree with him being pushed a bit further forward, as he's just not mobile enough to be that type of midfielder.  I don't think his cause is helped by there being no movement at all in front of him when he picks up the ball, but he's not the most creative player on the ball.

I'm sure Westwood is a good trainer and he's never caused us any problems with his extra curricular activities. Probably a nice bloke. However, for me he's everything that's wrong with Aston Villa these last few years - acceptance of dreadful mediocrity and worse, failure.

As others mention above, we need to start setting the bar higher.

An indelible stain to go in our history books.  Bravo Randolph - please, please fall on your sword and go.
He is trying to sell the club.

Ha ha. Trying. Good one.
so what you saying? You think he's not trying to sell the club? He doesn't want to know anymore. He has sunk multi millions into the club so he's trying to recover what he can. I would of thought that was obvious.

Nobody knows what he's doing, which is part of the problem. The other part is I'm not sure Randy knows what he's doing - from one day to the next. The last we heard from the club about this is that he's not a 'motivated seller right now', so what else are we to think? And going by his track record at the club - which has been whimsical and chaotic at best, disastrous at other times - when you say 'trying', I'm wondering how hard he's trying.

When I see any sign of this happening with the playing staff, I will accept your comments.
Until then, I will take any comments, by anyone, about "rebuilding" with a pinch of salt.

Not having a go at you by the way, I just think we need an enema of biblical proportions (size of the ark),at the club, to flush away the shite that is our first team squad.

He wanted to sell when things weren't going well, when he kept throwing money in and we kept getting worse, and the fans were on his back.

Then, Tim arrived in a blaze of glory, we got to a Cup Final, and with there being a bit of a buzz about the place he became 'not a motivated seller' (that was the timing of that comment)

I think he' s probably a motivated seller again now.

i doubt if there are many motivated buyers around considering the mess he has created.

I also wonder what 'motivated' means in Randy's world.
