Watching Villa next season
« on: April 13, 2016, 02:11:46 PM »
Other than the obvious answer of "get yourself down to Villa Park", what are the options for watching Villa next season?

For of those of us who live a distance away, and who wish to maintain our masochistic tendencies, how often are we going to see our march to automatic promotion/mid table mediocrity/League 1 (delete as applicable).

At the moment, I get to see games on hookie internet sites at the weekend, plus of course Sky when games are live, then highlights on MOTD or Sky.

What are we going to be restricted to next season, as I have until now, taken no interest in the Football League and how often their games are shown live or on what channels.

Live games on Sky Friday nights 1945 and Saturday 1230. Channel 5 weekly highlights Saturday 9pm. I'm struggling to think of what I've watched on Ch5 ever,  apart from that highlights show on the odd occasion. What does Channel 5 actually do apart from that?

There's little point to dodgy streams, now

Sky splatters Championship fixtures all over the week, though from next season the PL is on Fridays so that may go.

A relative who supports a relegated-to-championship-recently side tells me that one of the worst things about it is no coverage on iffy web sites, and even worse, the Channel 5 coverage.

MOTD may have many faults but that highlights programme on C5 is just plain awful.

Is there a similar service to teletext? I used to watch that for the full ninety minutes.

Waiting for the page with Villa to flick on was tense.

That's quite a good idea for an app,  change flash scores or something similar into old school teletext.

My Wolves mates reckon they have had 15 games moved for TV this season and that we will have even more moved as the biggest draw in the division. A positive of Newcastle and Sunderland coming with us is that may reduce and they'll be shown instead. They also reckon you can get D2 games on the iffy boxes but I've never tried.

Goals quite early on Sky Sports News from about 6pm on Saturday as well - is it Goals express?  Not sure if that only focuses on Div 1 / 2 only though.

On night games in the week SSN usually show the goals just after they happen. I'm sure you can pick up some streams for the Championship.
