Well that would be a stupid step. What makes an 18 year old fit to carry out boardroom duty is behind me but...

This sounds like a really good idea.
Thought you would say that.

If this is true, I think it'd be fair to say that Randy Lerner is insane.

To be 'on the board' implies a certain level of power in terms of decison making. That's a bit scary. Then again apparently he's a fan, so maybe he's the voice we're looking for.

Nastylee sorry, I saw your post after I started this thread. It can be merged if need be. :)

Not necessarily. If he's appointed as a non-executive director (NED) then he has no direct power, although presumably a vote for formal decisions.

As has been mentioned on his father's thread, makes no sense whatsoever in the context of everything else that's been going on and utterly mind blowing if true.

Over and above all that, I can't imagine Hollis being too happy about having him parachuted in immediately after his own appointment. If it was always on the cards then why not announce them together?

By the start of next season, we will know what power Hollis has. The question is, does he care about his future reputation in business?

We will know in 8 days. If we spend big this window to try and fix the club then we will know Hollis has some intelligence and power. If we sign nobody or spend a pittance again we will know he is just another pointless face on the board.

If he's remotely bothered by his reputation rather than just doing the job as he sees it, then protecting his reputation will require him doing exactly what's required regardless.

His reputation, his primary qualification for getting the job is sorting out failing organisations and getting them functioning again. That's not going to happen if he's listening to outside influences that don't like the medicine, regardless of whether it's AVFC or RBS.

If he's been daft enough to accept the job as Lerner's lackey he's gambling his future on Lerner not selling in the foreseeable future because if he doesn't contribute to turning us around, he's toxic goods himself.

Why would any father throw his eighteen year old son into what would be a very hostile atmosphere, he wasn't willing to face the Villa supporters I could not imagine he would let his kid take the flak.

What did you expect? The same man appointed McLeish! The man is not fit to be the custodian of AVFC, end of.
