Just got back from Lord's.  Great day down there and obviously great to get the win.  Thought Evans' catch really turned things around as Surrey were flying at that point.  I've often been a critic of his, but OHD's first spell today was superb and along with Wright, Woakes, Javid and Patel, they blew Surrey away.  A low total in a 50 over game is just made for Trott and he looked like he was having a net at times.

Excellent performance.

Particularly happy for Hobbly Dobbly and Chris Wright. OHD's chest-on action works well on wickets like this where the batsmen have to move around in their cease. I have watched a lot of county cricket inn the last 5 years, and I very much doubt that any bowler puts in more effort than Wright.

Major kudos to Ian Bell's captaincy as well.

The situation was made for Trott, and he did us proud.

Tuesday is going to be massive for the club, and much more important than today.

You Bears

Great win, top bowling and a lovely knock from Trott, just need the Villa to win now.

Yes, you can always rely on Villa to take the edge off the day! Well done you Bears! OHD was outstanding, along with Jeets, Woakes and Trott, plus Ateeq did very well with the ball.

Great win yesterday with some fantastic performances.

However I hope it's not the Bears "Liverpool semi-final" moment. The overall performances in the championship and T20 have not been good enough. Even if we survive in division one let's not paper over some pretty horrendous cricket recently.

Remember Somerset, rolled for 94 and we Still lost comfortably

We had a great day at Lords yesterday. A fantastic all round performance from the lads. I have to say the support was great from the first to the last delivery; we didn't hear a peep from the Surrey faithful.
Well done Bears! Now win v Lancs.

Ps My head hurts.

Looks like Yorkshire have finally had enough of the ECB after issuing a statement about their request to play Bairstow in the final game. "He's played five days of cricket in five weeks since the Oval Test match."

Rashid asked to be 'rested' no doubt under instructions from Strauss and co.

That's really quite poor, with so much at stake.

Bairstow wants to play and isn't centrally contracted, understandable that Yorkshire are so unhappy. As for Rashid, think he might have played his last game for the county, incredible that he doesn't wish to play in the biggest match of the season and his captain is clearly not happy.

Can't see Yorkshire winning it but would be nice to give Somerset a helping hand.

Andrew Gale is none too happy with Rashid by the sounds of it:

Yes, he wants to rest. That's his decision. I'll take 11 lads on the field who will give everything to win.

Think Rashid is going to be at another county next season.

I find this dictatorial stance from the selectors really annoying. In our case, Woakes should be playing in such an important game. Can't they occasionally let the player decide?

With Woakes I'd love him to play but I can understand it given England rested him towards the end of the summer because he was feeling the strain of it but Rashid and Bairstow it really makes no sense and as you say they should let the players have some say in it.

Central contracts ... he who pays the piper and all that, so i get the Woakes thing as has been said previously.

i can sort of understand the Bairstow decision as well, played in all the tests this summer and two or three of the fifty over games, and he's been keeping wicket in the tests. He's probably one of England's top three batsman, an injury off one flying from a length wouldn't be too popular.

But Rashid is a bizarre decision by the player. he could help his side to a third straight championship, bowl himself into a bit of form following being left out of the test matches and some limited over games. Its not as if theyre going to be playing at Hull or Pontypridd in the cold, rather "the home of cricket", so fantastic facilities and a decent night out afterwards!!

The problem with the Bairstow one is that he's not on a central contract and has played 5 days in 5 weeks, he really shouldn't need to be rested.  I do get the injury risk but when it's an important game for the county I don't think England should wrap players up for a reason like that.

I genuinely think the balance between the ECB and the Counties has been really good for the last 10 years in the main but when they get it wrong they make a real mess of it.
