Not exactly a surprise ref. Chopra but the Evans thing i think is an encouraging sign for him, that we as a club have faith in him and want to see him
get some championship runs, as who knows we could find Hain opening in championship next season. I rather hope thats not the case as i would rather Andy Umeed succeed.
I will be watching Northants scores a little more closely.
Also yes i believe Evans can come back and play for us in Royal London. A few players have done it, Luke Fletcher immediately comes to mind.

It could work the other way though PGW. He might decide that regular Championship Cricket at Northamptonshire's level is preferable to being a fringe Championship player at Edgbaston. He's a great limited overs player and Northants aren't a bad one day side so effectively his career moves forward.

The financial mess Northants are in i don't think they could afford to offer him a contract even if we were willing to let him go.

Assuming Hamshire lose to Somerset, Hants currently 184/6 42 overs wipes Hants out the equation.
Essex currently lie 3rd and will remain so if Surrey win. Surrey require 102 runs off 16 overs to win.
If Middlesex should win they will go into 3rd pushing Essex to 4th.

So ACV with Aaron Finch and Jason Roy opening the innings for Surrey in what is basically a T20 match i'm
with you Essex for me. Wouldn't be too upset whoever we play.

26 off 14 if hadn't lost that wkt may have done it
26 off 12 now

Surrey meanwhile are 27/2 75 off 75 req'd

Thats it then Essex at home, prefer the Wed 17th than the Thursday but won't be fussy!!
As Surrey lose Foakes but i think they can manage 1 off 8 balls.

It was good to see Hants get knocked out, anybody but them in the QF .Bit of surprise to see Evans go out on loan to Northants ,maybe we can do a swap at the end of the season for Ben Duckett ,we seem to be on good terms with them

Which would be good on paper but, eventually, we will lose Duckett to England for most of the season.

I've said for some time that Sam Hain will play for England one day. Anybody agree?
