294/8 8 runs off 6 balls
Jim Allenby to bowl final over.
Tim Groenwald took 5/90 to make a match of it
7 off 5
6 off 4
6 off 3
6 hit off 4th ball by John Simpson who finishes on 79* plus 9 victims as keeper in the match.
So go 14 points clear at the top of the division.

I was there for the whole game right behind the wicket and stick by my original observation that the wicket was as flat as fuck. We lost early wickets in the farce against Sussex last season when both teams batted once and scored 600 on a similar wicket close to the Rea Bank. Sam Hain made a big score then as well.

Bell sustained an injury while fielding and never looked like he was in good shape. He left the field several times, as did several players. At one point it resembled musical chairs with players going on and off and there was a rare double substitution. Once Trotty's constant squawking in the outfield abates you know the jig is up. Patel and Barker both looked like they might keel over and refuse to get back up.

Good to see Sam Hain back in the runs, his average before today was 12 and very pleased for Josh Poysden to get those wickets after being slaughtered in his first spell.

The final stages were fairly amusing as we went for the last batting bonus point. Hampshire put most of their fielders on the boundary apart from the burly trundler Irvine, who apparently only ever fields at slip and got plenty of bantz from the crowd of about twelvety. My favourite was "Get on the boundary with the rest of your mates, my grandma holding a lettuce is a better slipper than you".

Bears did what they had to do so fair play to them there. Good to see Hain and Ambrose in the runs. Can't believe  for the second time this season we missed out on a batting point by two runs .Why we left it so late to go for full batting points after it was obvious the game was safe only Brown and Bell will know.Them two points could prove to be crucial come the end of the season

Not a surprise to anyone but the Div 1 game between Surrey & Yorks was a draw 10 & 13 points respectively.
So Lancs 10 points and Yorks 11 points behind bears but both only played 9.

Ireland 179/4 39 require 58 off 11

While obviously great news for England and Woaksy ,his 6 for 70 against Pakistan bad news for the Bears,we won't be seeing to much of our best bowler for the forseeable future

At least with this England management team players do get released to play for their counties when opportunities arise, unlike some previous regimes.
