Given that Ball was first choice as number 12 at headingley you'd think he'd get the nod. But, off a 9-36 and playing against a less than impressive Sri Lankan batting line-up England may see this as a good opportunity for Woakes who I think they've invested a bit of time in thinking he has a chance.

Cracking afternoon down Edgbaston to witness Woakes in form like that.

I was just thinking what would have happened if Woakes was to stay not out overnight. How odd to send him in with just a couple of overs left in the day knowing he wont be around tomorrow.

Perhaps they thought that Poysden is such a poor batting option that a few overs of Woakes may have been a better option that him, given that he'd likely be out in less time.

Not sure what Woakes' dismissal was like but they may have told him just have a blast and if we can get a quick twenty or so runs out of you then great, if not, it's only Poysden's batting place that has been sacrificed.

That'd be my guess seeing as he hit a 4 off the first delivery.

Maybe they forgot Westwood is not playing and thought a couple of overs from Woakes was a far better bet .Only joking

Cricinfo has Poysden listed twelfth but has him as "still to bat".

Are they letting us have twelve batsmen in this innings?

I doubt their software has a "playing but not allowed to bat" option.

scorecard isn't looking too clever right now with Warks at 100/7 so a lead of 224 which is probably enough given how the match has gone.  Another 40-50 on the board would feel safer though.

Only managed 114 so have set a target of 238.

Durham 15 without loss. Worried now.

No Woakes, no party?

Could be worse, Leicester, who have somewhat bucked the trend this year after years of misery, revert to type by being skittled for just 43 by Worcester.

Patel on in the 10th over and Poysden on in the 19th when the ball is swinging and seaming tells you all you need to know about the depth of our seam attack once Woakes has gone and Clarke is mysteriously missing.

Anybody know what is going on with Rikki Clarke? Unavailable for selection was the official explanation.

Sulking about Spuds implosion at the end of last season perhaps?

Durham now 170 to win with no wickets down.  Any chance of rain?

79/3, with 159 needed to win for them.

Quite exciting really.
