Hopefully he will go into 2017 as still the number one!Hopefully he will win more majors next year. When his tennis career is over, he will mainly be judged on how many grand slams he won, not how long he spent as no 1 in the rankings.

When his tennis career is over, he will mainly be judged on how many grand slams he won, not how long he spent as no 1 in the rankings.I think he'll be judged as a brilliant player who won majors (and Olympic titles) and got to number one in the most competitive era Men's tennis has ever seen. Federer, Nadal AND Djokovic yet he's still done all that. I don't think he should worry about how history will judge him!
Djokovic is a lucky git. An extra days rest on Friday and a 6-1, 6-1 walkover against a tired Nishikori following a much easier half of the draw. I hope I'm wrong but Murray might just be too tired in tonight's final, especially after 3 hours 38 minutes against Raonic in the epic semi yesterday. But Murray has tremendous heart, desire and willpower, so you never know....
1st set to Murray
Still bemuses me how some sports fans in this country just don't "get" Andy Murray. The guy will go down in history once he's done as one of the greatest ever British sportsman.I can only conclude people dislike Tennis as a sport and all its elitism which is fair enough but don't take that out on Murray. If we're still going on about what he said about the England team 10 years ago....just get over it. Indeed pretty much all of us on here and elsewhere have said far worse about England given how they've performed in the last decade.
