Man City fans must have been thinking "no wembley this year" during that titanic sruggle for the 4th round.

Anyhoo, who cares we won woop woop!

We made bloody hard work of that!
Main bits for me:
Interesting selection, clearly saving a few legs for Saturday, and quite right too.
imho Bunn should have played...he needs games at first team level. Guzan continues to look "nervous" every time he has the ball.
Dreadful first half, booing no shock though I never join in.
Only improved after Gana and Gil came on, the former showing the class that ALL of our players should have been showing from kick off.
Strange picking Lyden then playing him out of position, but I thought he did pretty well.
Gestede was truly awful...suggested to my mate we swap him with the bloke they brought on for the last 15 minutes - he was full of guile, subtle touches and won almost every ball in the air, to effect, not just "knocking it on" to no-one or just falling over, as Rudi does.
Ayew worked hard again but is too often isolated.
Grealish...it hurts me to see him lacking in almost every aspect of his play at the moment. I really hope he can take Garde's advice on board and work at his game so that he can benefit the team - and himself -  much more.
2 goals. Clean sheet. :-)

See you in Smethwick on Satdy.

There was a point towards the end of the first half where Ayew won the ball, was tackled, knocked to the ground won it back, was tackled again and then won it back and laid it off. All the while Grealish was stood a foot away uninvolved.

Really strange what's happening with Grealish. Think it's a lack of confidence like most of our players, they just defer to each other rather than taking responsibility. A team with Ayews attitude and we'd be fine.

We need to be careful with Grealish.  Yes he's having a bad time, but given the number of players we've let go, only to see them shine at other clubs where their managed properly, is that a risk we should take?

Apart from Marc Albrighton (for half a season) I'm struggling to think of any other examples of this phenomenon.

Gary Cahill for one, maybe Steven Davis but that was all I could think of.

At least we go into the Olyon game on the back of a win.
Be great to beat them.

Oh to be going into a game with Olympique Lyonnais

There is no doubt at all that  a loss would have dealt a severe blow to club morale.

Nonetheless, the  victory affords little in terms of momentum. In fact, it is not so much a kick in the balls as a sharp tap in the balls, which can be worse in freezing temperatures.

We showed mussel and snatched the win.
Finally came out of our shell

Until the second went in I thought we were just gonna limpet across the line.

The world is our oyster.

If we get through the next round, Man City would be quite an impressive scallop.
A win against them would certainly be very whelkome.

Well we made very hard work of that. Wycombe worked hard and pressed well but we really should have made a more comfortable job of it. Can't be arsed to give player ratings but one player I'll pick out - Jack Grealish. When Garde came in I said Jack would have to prove his worth rather than get picked on his reputation, but he's completely lost his way. Whether it's Billy Big Bollocks mentality or loss of confidence I don't know, but he needs to get his head down and work - maybe on loan - or he'll just be another in the line of our next big hope playing lower league football.

I think I'd send Grealish on loan. Preferably to the biggest shithole in the Championship/Div 1 (bar the Blues, no-one deserves that) so he can see what's going to happen to his career unless he pulls his socks up.

I have no problem with how he wants to wear his socks, but I wish he would play a bit better.

Something else I noticed last night was attacking towards the Holte in the first half/swapping ends after the toss. We did the same against Palace, and I presumed we changed ends as we'd lost the toss until someone pointed out that Palace kicked off, so we must have won the toss and chosen to change ends. As Wycombe kicked off last night I presume the same happened. Wonder why they've started doing that? do they think they play better attacking the Holte so try to use it as a first half advantage? Whatever the reason - I don't like it
