being in the Holte for the 4th and 5th was probably one of the best (and most insane!) standing at Villa Park experiences ever. IMO.

Cos it was televised and such a big win against a then top team ,  the nation took notice of platt and daley and our championship challenge.

One of my abiding memories is the Everton fans going absolutely mental below us celebrating their goals. At 6-1/2 down that's strange behaviour and I've always thought them an odd bunch since.

I was in the Holte and my glasses flew off after the third or fourth goal; some bloke about fifty yards away found them and I went down to get them. They flew off again for the next goal and the same bloke managed to pluck them out of the air. What a fucking day.

Watched the game in a caravan in a holiday camp. I had stopped going regularly but saw every home game that season after that and bought a season ticket the following year and have had a season ticket for the vast majority of seasons since.

The only downside to that day was getting back to my car to find the stereo had been nicked.
