Realistic January Departures
« on: November 28, 2015, 11:26:36 PM »
If theres one thing Aston Villa is good at its getting rid of players. Unfortunately, it's just never the ones you want to leave. Who's had their chance and has to be sold off no matter the fee?

For me, it's Guzan. He's been present throughout this entire debacle. While he's a decent shot blocker, there's just too much calamity anymore. We need a new voice at the back. It would immediately be a first team shake up and I would rather go down swinging.

If we have even a moderate chance of staying up by Jan, I'd be looking to move Guzan and Gestede on as a minimum.

As it is, they'll probably be fine for us in the Championship. Ditto Clark.

I'd love to see them go but no one is going to take on GabFlab or the Pot Plant on their current salaries. In the latter's case I'd reactivate our moves earlier in the season to pay him off. With the former it's tricky as he has the keys to the vault for another three years. Whatever, the last thing we need in the January window is more last payday mercenaries/shysters/desperadoes in the vain hope they will help make a difference.

I may be wrong but weren't Bacuna and Westwood given new five year deals in the summer? If so, that would put off any potential buyers (as it would if they had seen them actually play)

I'd keep Bacuna but the rest can be made into glue

What's happened to Crespo? Is he injured? If not, he can't be happy in foreign climes and not playing. Baker and Cole to stay where they are. Can't see too many clubs desperate to sign any of the players named so far. Which tells us just how pants they are.

The queue wouldn't be round the block for that lot.  Also, if there are any clubs stupid enough, they will wait til the summer when our price will be lower.

It's hard to say.. my initial reaction was Gestede, Westwood and Lescott

But Gestede is exactly the sort of striker we will need in the Championship next year. So theres no point on taking a loss on him in january.

Westwood can go because he offers literally nothing to the squad

Lescott can go because Okore and Ilori are coming back to fitness

The likes of Gabby doesn't deserve to be able to jump ship, he got us in this mess, so should be getting us out of it by getting us promoted next year

I suspect Richards might be a target of bigger clubs in January, he's far too good for this shower of shit, and I'm fed up of seeing him try to babysit the defence, whilst also making the breaking runs forward by bypassing the non existent midfield.. and now he's even scoring

End of season Richards, Gana, Vertout, Troare, Gil, Ayew will all get better offers and take them. Grealish will be a target for the likes of Leicester, Albion and Stoke but he might stick with us next season out of loyalty.

Amavi's  injury means he will still be with us at least until he proves his fitness.

The rest I honestly couldn't give a fuck about because, quite frankly, they are useless.

To sell you need a buyer. No one will buy our deadwood.

Sorry, messed up there. I was thinking this as once relegation was confirmed (which of course won't be January).

If we can only get rid of one player it would have to be that massive waste of space Agbonlahor, I can't see anybody being daft enough to take him off our wage bill. He angers me.
