Poetic that this thread has now been unstickied and will now disappear down without much of a whimper.  The same as Aston Villa.

I preferred when the optimistic posters were being like comical ali and telling us everything was going to be ok.

I guess what is happening is less of a shock for people who lost faith in this shower many years ago.

I think this regime is exposed now for what it is. No hiding it now.

I think what has happened has hopefully united all of us, I think the last few months events have shocked Even the most cynical.
Fox comments about kit sales, building something special, backing the manager and the Hollis appointment and his comments.

Although we needed to bring some players in, I have just looked at all the comings and goings around the league and I most say there has not been a great deal of quality transferred in this window.

No not a lot but I find it quite incredible that we have ended up with nothing.I think it would be advisable for Fox Hollis Reilly to stay away on match days as their personal safety is at risk. Until Lerner sells the club for whatever price we will continue to drop like a stone. If I was Remi Garde I would resign this morning that job is impossible.

In the transfer window Villa were the only club of the bottom 6 that did not sign a single player. Garde accepts it is difficult but his targets all went to other clubs mainly in the bottom 6. He is to consider his future in the summer. if he walks then there is no way a good manager will come to this club.

The specific issue according to the Daily Telegraph was that Wahbi Kazri - a winger - was prepared to sign but Villa would not pay £8million for him. The wider question is that Garde was allegedly promised funds for signing players in November but nothing came of it.

So he is waiting to see what money he gets in the summer. If fans cannot back him to get the money he needs then we can expect to see him go. The lack of ambition throws a light on what Hollis said at the Trust AGM- "IT would be reckless to put the chequebook away completely, but also it would be irresponsible to throw huge sums of money into a situation tht is not working so well".

Does this mean Villa are refusing the back the judgement of the manager?

Because I believe in the club - note, the CLUB,  I object very strongly aj2k77 to being called a "comical ali" by you.  You claim to love the club yet you seem to have no concept of loyalty to it and with others you have spent the last weeks trying to prove how much angrier you are than everybody else.  We are all angry.  We are all pissed off big time but we owe it to the other loyal fans who stick by the club through thick and thin to buckle down and come through together.  Focus your eyes on that word TOGETHER, not lashing out at other loyal Villa fans to get some sort of personal relief.

This comical ali posted at great length last week while the window was still open that Lerner, Hollis, Fox and the board are a ship of fools and with the managers they have appointed are a gathering of bungling incompetents.  I did not expect them to make any signings and the fact that they have not done so does not surprise me in the least.  They are such idiots that I would not be at all surprised if Remi Garde does not resign this morning.

In spite of ALL THAT, this comical ali will remain totally loyal to the club.  I shall be at West Ham and I shall be at VP for Norwich. I shall be in my seat on the Holte End next August with my two sons and my grandson beside me.  I went down with them to the 3rd  Division and if needs be I will go down with them again.  We shall rise again, of that I have no doubt, but it will happen because there are enough of us who put the club first.  Not our own anger, or our own demands to be listened to and personal views about other Villa fans being thrown in their faces.

God you have made me angry aj2k77, comparing me to an Iraqi war criminal.

I'd like to think it means we'll put offers in on the players the manager wants but we won't settle for any old rubbish just to fill out the squad - that's what's got us here.  We also won't jeopardise the clubs long term future with the sort of wreckless spending that put Leeds and Portsmouth in financial meltdown.  Hope so anyway.

Brian Green you are one of the last people that "Comical Ali" slur could be aimed at, I read and look out for your posts because I find them measured, fair and also as of late wary of what our custodian is capable of.
Also I agree a 100% that where we are now is not where we want to be, also I managed to cope through the days of the Third Division and why, because I am a Villa supporter and I will always be a Villa supporter, premier league or conference.

But theres always a but, we are both long in the tooth and have seen disasters played out at B6 over many many years, dusted ourselves down, got up and recovered from the kick in the knackers only something you truly love can make it hurt so much, I just feel the climate the game is played in now or should I say the business of football, this may well be something on a scale we have not dealt with before and the recovery time, well who knows.
Another but, Aston Villa were here before Randy Lerner, in some form it will be here after his stench has been removed, he has damaged Aston Villa but he will never kill it.

I'll probably be banned or thread locked in a minute but who do you think Remi will look to bring in to strengthen the squad in January ?

For me ....
The best quality keeper we can get on a permanent or loan.... I think Guzans' confidence is shot and we need some experience.
A striker who can score with feet and head ..... probably someone french but Austin would be available
An experienced centre back .... although I think Okore will impress when he gets his chance. I don;t think Richards is the complete answer, can be too hot-headed

OP had a premonition of doom from the very beginning.

Well said, Brian.

Thank you Kuwait and I agree with every word you say but, and there always is a but, what has to be in front of all our minds in awful times like these is that WE are Aston Villa.  You, me, SH, aj2, Chicago Lion, VID, Des, Paulie, Chelts, Footy, Clampy, Legion, DW, Dave Shelley, Darren Woolley, TV, Ads, all if us - we are Aston Villa not the owner or the board.  The owner has the honour of owning a piece of history by accident of birth and inheriting a lot of money, the rest are hired hands.

We are Aston Villa, the supporters of the club, world wide.  We are proven good supporters and what good, proper football supporters do in times like this is to stand strong, do the pain however bad it is or however long it lasts and come through it, together.  Fuck Small Heath, and Fuck the Albion.

I'm with you here Brian. We need to get behind Remi and let the board know we have faith in Manager but no-one one else.
