Just had a look at the BBC gossip column for the morning. The currant bun are saying that we failed with a bid for Michu. Surely rubbish?

Bid from Sunderland for Micah rejected apparently.

Honestly I would rather trust an unwitting resident of Fox Hollies Road to oversee our transfer policy than Fox and Hollis.

He'd fit right in, another player who's barely played football for years. Oh and he plays for an amateur club now apparently. Supposedly we contacted them but the player doesn't think he is fit enough, after 14 months out.

Back on Kalinic.  I think David Cameron must've personally intervened to block the work permit to stop him joining West Ham.

I dont see how that is possible to fail in a bid. He is out of contract and playing amateur level isnt he? edit. just read aj2k77 post. Well that makes sense. If true fair play to the player for declaring he is just not fit enough.

Which asks the question, why are we trying to sign a player who's been out for 14 months and currently plays amateur football? Have we completely run out of ideas? Where is this scouting network?

Just had a little read of Michu's story. His ankle is fucked to pieces, he will not be playing top level football again, it doesn't sound like it would hold up at all to the rigours of it. What on earth are we thinking? The medical staff bored without Vlaar and Senderos to keep them company?

I know its amazing. Quite impressive really. I declare this boards strategy "naff" , its one of the few words which covers all dimensions of the club.

The effect of signing a player or two isnt just the direct impact that those signings have but also the knock on effect that it has on the players who are already at the club.

Newcase will stay up. We won't.

If they don't, Mclaren won't manage again. That side is far too good to drop if they get Doumbia.

I wonder if Garde will have a go for Gomis from Swansea

The papers are still linking him with Newcastle as well. Surely they wouldn't want Doumbia, Berahino and Gomis?

Should imagine that they have tryed a number of signings, but for various reasons it has not happened, also sure that Remi and the famous transfer quango had options A, B and C for whatever positions they had identified and again alot of the names we are hearing are just lazy journalists not doing their research. The question that we will never know is what amount was Remi given to get these players, which of course would determine the level of quality.
The gap between parachute payment (34 mill) I believe and TV deal for Prem 99 million = 65 million, I would hazard a guess that Remi was told he had about 5 million max and they had to fall into our new wage structure, maybe that is why we have found it so hard to do any business.

It's in The Sun so it absolutely must be true.
