We have to have a bit of faith in Remi though here, he turned down Moyes old coach already so he must see something in Black that makes him want him. Don't ask me what it is.

Steve Round turned down a more junior role, presumably Eric Black is happy to do it. Really, honestly, who cares. Sign a bloody forward, then we'll get excited.

Eric Black had a very good reputation as an assistant, didn't he?

I don't actually have a problem with the idea of a transfer committee -though I do have a problem with ours.

But a manager should be able to select his own assistants.

this bloke

Been mainly an Assistant or caretaker boss. Did manage Motherwell and Coventry for a short time. Don't know much about him but he's meant to be a decent coach.

Yes he does. Very highly regarded by Mark Hughes and Steve Bruce, who he did good jobs for.

Can he play up front? Or cross a ball?

yes he was a striker in his day with a decent goalscoring record. He's probably better than what we have at the club today so maybe he can be a player coach.

According to the reports, he has.

Wasn't Black in that great Aberdeen side that won the CWC?

Alongside a former manager of ours.

Heard a rumour we are after two young French strikers - Cronyism and Nepotism.

If Austin wasn't keen on joining us in the summer there was very little chance of us getting now.

I'm more annoyed that we seemingly had no interest at all in Afobe.  When you look at the likes of Norwich and Bournemouth going in for him, I don't think it's entirely out of the question he could have been persuaded.

Would have been good for us this season and, worst case (but increasingly likely) scenario in the Championship next year.

Look I'd have loved him at Villa but I'm assuming he's on wages we're just not willing to pay anymore despite his reasonable transfer fee.

Don't assume. It makes an Ass out of U and Me.

Alternatively read something like Charlie Austin will take some convincing to leave QPR for a Premier League club battling against relegation in January.
