Alan Nixon hinting at some good news for Villa in his rag tomorrow.

It was all a dream!

for me loan signings until the end of the season arent going to get us anywhere

we are as good as down barring a miracle so a loan signing comes in and then buggers off at the end of the season and then we are back to square one again

Not necessarily.  If it is the right loan player, they could come in, do well and give the existing players a lift that could be taken into next season.  Look at the impact Kyle Walker and Robbie Keane had during their loan periods with us.

different time

you could bring messi in and after two weeks he would be playing like bacuna

as for the confidence bit, what do we have a manager and coaching staff for?

I just caught that interview on Football Focus with Charlie Austin. What a smug bastard he is.

I bet he feels even smugger tonight.

Yes,  fair play to Southampton. They see an issue and they fix it with an established premier league player. We gamble on players from lower leagues and young foreign players that take time to settle.  We are the bottom team for a reason. Too many gambles not coming up trumps.

I have no complaints about Austin as a player. Finds the right areas, mugs defenders, good with his feet and head. What bugged me was that he was talking about Southampton being on the way up when it seems to me they're pretty much a south coast Fulham in the making.

We've been doing this for 5 years and it's finally coming to fruition.

If it's been decided behind the scenes that we're waiting to be a Championship side, I don't mind missing out on Austin. I don't even mind being in the Championship for a while if the football we're watching is great. But I will mind, a lot, if we try and build a team around some of the shite we have in our squad. In my mind, relegation is the price we have to pay to wash of the stench of insipid, uninspired football with no end product.

Sounds like you have come to fruition as well and just shot your load.

I think the term fruition might not be the most appropriate choice of word, but I have myself said (a year or so ago) that if we carry on buying Championship players or Championship quality players, then that is where we will end up.

If Austin wasn't keen on joining us in the summer there was very little chance of us getting now.

I'm more annoyed that we seemingly had no interest at all in Afobe.  When you look at the likes of Norwich and Bournemouth going in for him, I don't think it's entirely out of the question he could have been persuaded.

Would have been good for us this season and, worst case (but increasingly likely) scenario in the Championship next year.

You and me both, but to suggest some fans are enjoying our demise (the post a couple of places above) is absolutely pathetic.
Anyway, it ain't over yet.

Look I'd have loved him at Villa but I'm assuming he's on wages we're just not willing to pay anymore despite his reasonable transfer fee.

I'm hoping that tweet from Alan Nixon about good news for Villa tomorrow means a striker in-coming. Boy do we need it.
