Victor Valdes moving to Standard Liege on loan....surely would have been worth looking at and then making a move in the Summer for a permanent solution once we knew what league we'd be in. Wages would be an issue but they'd partially be funded by Man U.

Hope I'm wrong but I don't think anyones coming in.

I think we'll get Kalinic, Debuchy and a foreign striker on loan.

Does any of it really matter as far as this season is concerned? I am usually fairly optimistic but we need to start thinking about getting all our shit into one sock for the battle ahead in the Championship.

We'll be in a much better position to come back up next season if we finish this one with some degree of dignity, confidence and unity still intact.  So we should at the very least act like we're trying to stay up.

The January window is generally the bastion of mercenaries and panic buyers. I'd take more heart from hearing we'd somehow jettisoned Gabby and Charlie boy. With the current squad and emerging youngsters allied to a few astute purchases we have more than enough. Getting rid of the negative elements of the playing staff will help greatly. Something Garde seems acutely aware of.

Right now I will take any signing, good or bad. I do not enjoy being negative about our club or owner but this surrender makes me so, and no I don't care what is "realistic" or what is best "long term" I care about our club at least making a show of trying to stay in the premier league.

You want us to make bad signings instead of none.

Ok each to their own.

According to this tweet, the Kalinic deal is almost done....almost!:

Aleksandar Holiga @AlexHoliga

Also, Lovre #Kalinic to Villa seems to be a done deal, pending work permit. Excited about that one.

Apparently, Holiga, an independent football writer based in Croatia ...........Godzvilla!

I will be very pleased to not see gormless Guzan in goal for us anymore, hopefully we get a few quid for him in the summer.

Yes I would. Bad signings like Sylla can still make a difference in the short term and we need short term panic and spending if we are going to get out of this mess.

The board seems bizarrely sanguine about getting relegated, its almost like they are relieved. Thats a stupid thing to type and a stupid thing to say but honestly thats the impression I get from all the clubs statements (except for Garde who seems angry which is good).

Anyway I think we can all agree that if the most exciting thing in a transfer thread is talking about me posting bollocks rather than discussing the merits of our new signings then its been a bad window.  ;D

Ciggie, I share with you the frustrations of buying no one at the moment when we are entering the 4th week of January but I can't see any sense in buying more bad players, if anyones been there and done that before it's us and look where we are.

A sylla would make no difference now, we have no Benteke's or Delphs to drive us on or turn games with goals. We have to put it politely a very average team with no real standouts, more shit would just float to the bottom.

Fair do's aj2k77. Yeah I am frustrated. Its just that we are in a bad spot and I want to see activity, or at least some kind of response from the board and owner. Probably knee jerk of me and as you say might not help, but its how I feel. Shrug.

We have plenty of useless players here, we really do not want anymore!

I'm still hopeful Remi has some players lined up and something is happening behind the scenes.

A few unknowns with decent looking youtube compilations probably would have lifted our spirits a bit but then when we see them in the flesh it would be another thing again.

I've just read an interview with Ilori as well, where he said he won't make the same mistakes again, such as not working hard enough and other mistakes in general, and he found it hard adapting to a loan.

Sounds like his attitude was not good enough, another bad egg, these are the kind of players we don't want at the club anymore and why we still need to be careful during this window and not just sign anyone.
