You can almost see the though bubble going on in Vidic's agent's head - "Now which club do we know that's stupid and desperate enough to offer an injury prone thirty something central defender an 18 month gig? Hmm, I wonder?

Still, it's okay, because after Vlaar, Senderos and Lescott, surely we've learned our lesson by now?

Would that be the Vlaar people on here regularly see the departure of as a great loss, the Senderos who played when Lambert's team broke the one positive record of his reign and the Lescott who's doing well now?

Yes, them exactly. I don't see Vlaar as a great loss, given his injuries, and I can't accept that Senderos or Lescott have represented (or represent) good value because they've mustered half a dozen good games between them. Are you seriously suggesting that we pick up the likes of Vidic on a big weekly wage because we just might get five good games out of him?!

No, but I am suggesting that the three you mentioned did a lot better than to be used as examples of bad signings.

Being linked with Stefan Johansen from Celtic for £5m. Can't say I know anything about him.
Any good?

You're right about Vlaar, he wasn't a bad signing, just really unlucky with injuries. But I beg to differ about the other two, with Lescott's giving up the ghost for Leicester's goal last Saturday the latest example of why.

Kramaric joins Hoffenheim on loan.  That could have been one to look at.

I'd have even looked at Yann Kermorgant, with one eye on next year.

Yann Kermorgant, time for this again.

It was posted on here the games lost with and without Vlaar in the team was pretty significant.
Which would also indicate the amount of games he missed.
I do seem to remember our periods of decent form coincided with him playing regularly.

And if Senderos doesn't constitute a bad signing that I've no idea what does. We signed a player with prolific record of long-term injuries, who subsequently picked-up a long term injury, shortly after joining us. I'd love to know how much we're currently paying him to not even be part of our registered playing squad.

He might not be a bad player (when he's fit), but in terms of a signing, he was a terrible one.

I think we'll get Kalinic, Debuchy and a foreign striker on loan.

Does any of it really matter as far as this season is concerned? I am usually fairly optimistic but we need to start thinking about getting all our shit into one sock for the battle ahead in the Championship.

We'll be in a much better position to come back up next season if we finish this one with some degree of dignity, confidence and unity still intact.  So we should at the very least act like we're trying to stay up.
