Senderos has never let us down. He actually looked like a really good player in a couple of earlier games

He did look good early last season but then he vanished. It was bizarre, I think he was injured with calf strain but we haven't seen him since. Must be the worst calf injury ever.

Was it when he was on international duty, or aggravated by Switzerland playing him when we said he shouldn't?

I think he played a few u21 matches earlier in the season, but seems to have vanished from there as well.

Yes that's right, I forgot about that. If it was genuinely picked up while on international duty we should be looking for compensation from the Swiss FA.

It's a pity because he looked really solid last season.

You can almost see the though bubble going on in Vidic's agent's head - "Now which club do we know that's stupid and desperate enough to offer an injury prone thirty something central defender an 18 month gig? Hmm, I wonder?

Still, it's okay, because after Vlaar, Senderos and Lescott, surely we've learned our lesson by now?

Would that be the Vlaar people on here regularly see the departure of as a great loss, the Senderos who played when Lambert's team broke the one positive record of his reign and the Lescott who's doing well now?

and Senderos is only 30. He was 29 when we signed him  :-X

No to Vidic just because I fucking hate him

Good point, well made!

Sounds like bog-standard Sun making shit up based off an educated guess story for me.

I think that's where the theory falls down.

I really could understand and accept the criticism of what might or might not be being screwed up at the club if it were not for the fact that the making of the criticism seems to be done with such relish.

As is often the case Brian you have hit the nail on the head. If this forum was a playground there would be a certain number sticking their tongues out and saying 'see,I told you so' with gleeful pride. We are where we are, and endless hand wringing is not going to change that. I am seeing the start of a long term rebuild and positivism which needs support and encouragement.

Absolutely agree

This has been the case for a while and if you point it out it turns into an argument that largely centres around who is the better fan.

Could be just wishful thinking though. You can't blame any fan being cynical about yet another so called new dawn after what we've been through over the last 6 seasons.

You can't, but - and I could be wrong on this - it's the first time that there's been such a public admission of past mistakes.

and that's the bit that makes me want to see what happens over the next 12-18 months because that's how long it will need to fully turn things around, to moan that nothing changes and criticise the club for not spending, etc during this window, whilst understandable, doesn't account for the longer term culutural change needed at the club and I do wonder if part of the problem we will have is that the fans won't want to give them the time they need to fix things (which is what I always thought Fox was getting at with the false narrative thing).

On the rumours, if it is Vidic in, then I wouldn't be against it on a short-term deal if Lescott goes off to the MLS. We can't carry both, but Vidic's footballing brain beats Lescott's.

I'm also wondering if we are about to sign a Croatian Keeper (Lovre Kalinic) would the move for Vidic to be help our new keeper settle? Just a theory I came up with.

More likely to create more disharmony. Isn't Vidic Serbian?

I know what you mean Brian, but I don't (can't?) believe that it's more than a small minority of Villa supporters. It's inevitable that folk will have their own theories on why the club finds itself in such dire straits: and it will continue until we can all see the green shoots of recovery occurring & a brighter future ahoy. I do feel a damned sight more optimistic than I have in recent months - as I  think Mr Garde is making the difficult decisions regarding the playing staff and thus improving results & morale. I just hope he's fully backed by the owner and board; and doesn't do a sharp offski at the end of the season. I guess we'll all just have to wait and see how things pan out & keep everything crossed...

Being linked with Stefan Johansen from Celtic for £5m. Can't say I know anything about him.
Any good?
