There was a rumour he would not go out of London wasn't there.

Long would be a decent signing for us but he will get better offers

Long might be, and would do a job in the Championship.  If we play the attackers we played Tuesday for most of the games we might be alright up front, maybe a poucher would be good.
Maybe he will HOUND the opposition defence.

Is Shane Long really likely to come here given that the man who tried to murder him and his family still turns out at right back for us?

I'm very interested to see if we can get any business done at all this window. If we don't we are almost certainly down, they will know this.

Well they are trying. We'll just have to be patient I suppose.

More jam tomorrow, only the jam we get promised turns out to be shit sandwiches.

not even a sandwich

The move for Debuchy is a strange one unless Lescott is leaving and we plan to play either Richards or Okore on the left of the CB pairing. Because if Lescott isn't going where does Richards or Okore go? Still Debuchy would become the best RB at the club so it's a plus, but we have many other needs. A win today and not so good results for Swansea/Newcastle/Sunderland is so critical because it just gives us a bit more hope and makes us that much more attractive to potential new signings.

I agree TV. I wonder if the MLS thing for Lescott is happening too. Sane potentially coming in as well? Otherwise, it does seem a little strange.

Shane Long is a decent player, I wouldn't be too unhappy with him in our side.

The thing with Long is, as far as I've seen, he works like a dog.

And Tuesday showed the difference someone working hard up top made us.

I don't see how debuchy is an odd signing. He should be comfortably better than any of the right backs we have

Matt raises a fair point, Debuchy is better than what we currently have available, therefore is an upgrade. Not necessarily a priority position but definitely an upgrade. I agree with this too aj but I wonder whether all of this in one month is too much to hope for?

And Tuesday showed the difference someone working hard up top made us.

According to the 'Gossip' thing on the Beeb website, Liverpool are considering an £8m bid for Long's services. He sure as Hell won't be coming here any time soon.

It should have been done in the summer. Too late now I know but the summer business was just not enough.

Well that's the problem we face full stop. Good players have better options.

However we should definitely try to square the circle by trying to get the big man back for six months.
