Well this new bloke has more or  less said we are down. That is defeatism and we have no room for that attitude at Villa Park.
Especially if we,by some chance, get a hard fought win against Leicester this weekend!.

My brother an even older Holte Ender than I, was a Royal Marine stationed on Malta.  He explained why Maltese policemens' toenails are objects of great interest.  When he was there he says the cops wore conventional British style uniforms but, due to the heat were allowed to wear sandals and no socks exposing their toenails to view and inevitable military jest.

but what's the point of panic buying ciggies if we are down? Maybe a more measured approach  is required  - identifying the players who will be instrumental in trying to get us back up rather than hiring payday mercenaries who will do nothing other than bleed us white. Just playing Devil's Advocate here!

Oh I am not being rational :) But getting players in to get us back up could even be done now, arguably its even better to do it now, more time to gel, assuming we have been actually working on it during December. Its the lack of activity or concern entirely that bothers me, it smacks of laziness. When in a crisis I say push every button you can to see if one of them happens to work. Like I say not rational, I am panicked. I want to see Randy & Fox panicking as well.

I know what your getting at but defeatism has been the attitude at Villa Park for a very long time now.

I'm a bit worried we still haven't brought anyone in. If there was a club who needed to do their business as quickly as possible, it was us.

I understand the difficulties of doing business in January, but even so, it's still a little disappointing.

Yep at the very least I'd like us to be putting some steps in place to prepare for next year. Although I'd rather we didn't saddle ourselves with a load of mercanaries in an attempt to avoid relegation. It's a tough balance, but I'd like to see us actually do something.

Agree PWA.  Common sense sense says don't waste money but we must boost the tempo of the second half of the season so we hit next season running.  Last year's summer and autumn saw us totally unprepared for 15/16 and it is that shocking neglect has seen us where we are currently.

Haven't heard any pronouncement about transfer money at all OswaldF - not a sausage - along with the "Aston Villa are not afraid of relegation" quote it tells you all you need to know mate!

I don't want to see anyone connected with the club panicking. Taking our plight seriously and trying calmly to address it, yes. Panicking, no.

Agreed, I'd like to see some controlled concern. Panic is the sort of thing that leads to us offering £100,000 a week to someone like N'Zogbia on a 5 year deal.

If we really are holding back from buying as the club has accepted relegation then that's yet another kick in the teeth for the fans. Yes it's unlikely we'll stay up but you could also say it's only 8 points and it's still mid January.

Newcastle, Sunderland, Bournemouth etc have all done significant business already and are demonstrating that they're up for the fight.

We are just strolling along talking about how hard it is doing business in January, whilst refusing to look at the league table and pretending that it isn't really happening.

Yep, Big Sam is looking to give it a right go, but not sure on the quality of Newcastle's spending.
I really think with a couple of clever loans and deals that allow the player to leave if we go down we could really freshen up the feel of the squad and still give it a right go.

I'm not losing any sleep over the fact Newcastle have been robbed of £12m for Jonjo Shelvey.
