Disappointed we still haven't got a single player in as yet. January 10th, and after the season we've had I'd have thought we'd have at least one new signing to bolster the squad especially with 2 home games in a week coming up.
Come on Villa at least try and look like we haven't given up.

It's ok, Fox and one of the other morons are flying out to ask for signings.

#avfc latest: Fox & Almstadt are flying out for crisis talks with Lerner and will push for new signings http://www.telegraph.co.uk/sport/football/teams/aston-villa/12091882/Aston-Villa-executives-fly-out-for-crisis-talks-with-Randy-Lerner-after-Wycombe-embarrassment.html

Jesus Christ we've left it till the middle of January to discuss strengthening the squad. The place is a bloody mad house.

Do you really believe that? Because as shit as things are and they are, and as inept as they have been as an executive team I don't believe that for one second.

And every crisis meeting throws up a completely different plan from the last failed plan. I honestly think you could pick 3 random fans from the Holte End and they'd struggle to do a worse job than the incumbent morons at the moment.

No doubts the talks will take a couple of days, so unfortunately Fox and Almstadt will have to be unavailable for the potential booing and fan protests at the game on Tuesday evening! Unless of course they are staging a two man sit in in New York on behalf of the fans. Some bloody hope!!

Unless they're bringing Lampard and Pirlo back with them what's the point of going to NY when phones and Skype work so well these days?

My biggest concern would be the activation of a contingency plan that they might have discussed prior to Garde being appointed. That is they would have a budget/plan in place to support him should the situation at the time stay the same or improve. I think we would have been successful in getting certain targets and having a significant transfer budget if staying up was very much possible. I think now with the situation much worse than even they could have imagined they might activate contingency which would be to curb all spending until the summer. Because it won't come as shock to anyone that the prices being quoted to us are higher, wage demands are higher, or simply those identified back when Garde arrived now won't come at all.

There's the possibility Garde has issued some form of ultimatum, or they could be considering yet another change. Whichever scenario you decide to consider to be the truth, none of them are good at all, but the one I cannot believe is that they are taking a flight to NY to ask for money, or that they might be starting their January discussions in the second week of the window.

I don't for one minute believe Garde took the job without promises of funds in January. A blind man could see this squad assembled wasn't good enough for this league and Garde is not stupid, he knows what is needed. All we know is that today is Jan 11th, we still haven't strengthened the squad and Fox and co have gone to America to speak to the chairman. Perhaps Garde has issued an ultimatum and I wouldn't blame him if he has because this club is an absolute clusterfuck staring relegation in the face.
3 or 4 decent players could kickstart our survival. I know it's a long shot but for Christ sake we can't give up in January. It would be a crime against the club and cowardly as well.

Why is Almstadt going? I thought he was just the guy who organises things and has no say in transfers what so ever?

That's worrying. I can only think that plan A is a bit slimline and Garde is saying that he's not prepared to take the shit he got on Saturday for trying to implement it.

I wouldn't blame him.

Anyone else think we should have a go for Shelvey? Poor season at Swansea, clearly not happy, but would add a lot to our midfield IMO.

I'm sure there was a promise of funds. However I would also imagine there was an expectation from the board that we might have won a game by now and would not be 11 points out to sea. Garde's targets might be falling through or they might not be as willing to come for what they might have done had the situation been better. Like I said, whatever the reason for the trip ultimately none of it is good.

I suspect, that Garde, without any hysterics, has suggested that the rebuild should commence, with immediate effect to shifting the loafers, court jesters and poor specimens of professional sportsmen that inhibit and spread their workshy loads across Bodymoor Heath. However, this is going to take more spondulies, pennies and sheer brazen effort that needs to be sold to the lerner family trust.Ultimately,Mr lerner ,despite his antagonism and detachness towards this team,is going to have to suck it up and have a big bite of this shit sandwich we see being dressed up in a cake box, presented with a huge bow on it.When we are on a level footing in terms of commitment, teamwork and spirit,we may start to see some planning for the summer.

don't hold your breath. I have a horrible suspicion that things are going to get a lot worse before they begin to get better. You reap what you sow - and all  we've planted  for years is acres of shit.

So we are 11 days into the window, 11 points adrift have 2 games coming up in 5 days, a possible but highly unlikely 6 points to be gained, no new signings and they decide a meeting in New York is required, so from that we can take it that no contingency plan was in place, no financial outlay agreed prior to January 1st.
No I don't believe that either, a phone call or one of the many wonderful ways of discussion we can now take place in over the wonderful world wide web, along the lines of Randy were fucked, we need to spend another 20 mill on top of the 100 grand you agreed, plus we have to pay the new signings more than Mc Donalds working wage or your investment which is going down in value quicker than a whores knickers and that will guarantee nothing.
Something smells of trouble and I would not be surprised if it was an ultimatum from Garde, so even thou I am not sure he is the guy for the job, do not be surprised if the game of managerial musical chairs is about to begin again.

I just can't see why a crisis meeting about funds is needed unless Garde has said to them the playing staff is rotten you need to dig deep and let me sort it out or I am walking.
