Got to be careful not to overeact with the sales, Yes, you can count on a leper's hand the players who have impressed this season, BUT a lot of these players will be useful next year once some confidence has returned. If they were that shit they wouldn't have survived in the premiership upto now. The main problem is we went into the season with an inexperienced and timid midfield and no striker worthy of the name. Apart from 4 or 5  of them, i think we have, with a few additions, a decent promotion challenging side. I just hope we don't compound the problem and sign a new team on a lidl budget. Rarely works.
A very good post unfortunately spoiled by the use of an inappropriate  phrase.

I imagine the Norwich and Sunderland defeats did for any prior planning. It's now a case of go Bent level Saudi stag do party spending or do nothing.

I have zero faith in this crew to actually come up with anything that will benefit the squad. I'd rather they channelled their energies into finding a buyer who has the first clue how to run a football club.

Disappointed we still haven't got a single player in as yet. January 10th, and after the season we've had I'd have thought we'd have at least one new signing to bolster the squad especially with 2 home games in a week coming up.
Come on Villa at least try and look like we haven't given up.

It's ok, Fox and one of the other morons are flying out to ask for signings.

#avfc latest: Fox & Almstadt are flying out for crisis talks with Lerner and will push for new signings http://www.telegraph.co.uk/sport/football/teams/aston-villa/12091882/Aston-Villa-executives-fly-out-for-crisis-talks-with-Randy-Lerner-after-Wycombe-embarrassment.html

Conspiracy theory: are they sacking Garde? Or has he tendered his resignation? Hence the crisis talks.  I really don't understand why they need to go over there to ask for money for signings. Brewery and piss up is totally correct.

Why the fuck were they not out there a month a go, getting the budget set and finding players that could come last week??

Piss up. Brewery. Organise.

Sorry we have to fly to New York to discuss it. Use the fucking phone.
There's no need or excuse for needing to fly out there.

1. Even if they haven't got proper video meeting equipment, which given where Lerner is living there bloody well should be, have they not heard of Skype?

2. If they've got to meet face to face, they should be meeting where the fewest people have to travel, i.e., Birmingham.

I'm sure that they had a budget in mind and targets when Garde took over. However we were 5 points back and January was a good way off. I don't think any of them saw it getting significantly worse to the point where I can absolutely imagine not one of their original targets want to join or if they do it is at an exorbitant price. Plus I am sure any selling club wants to take full advantage of our desperation. They might even be discussing Garde and how much longer we can go without winning a game before they pull the trigger again.

Whichever way you look at it, it's a fucking disaster what this season has turned into.

The only possible excuse for the lack of activity is if they'd got deals lined up based on still having a realistic chance of staying up, but now that that's no longer the case those targets have politely declined, now it really is stick or twist with regards doing any business at all.

Its in the B'ham Mail too:-

http://www.birminghammail.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/aston-villa-board-set-crisis-10713003

'Aston Villa board set for crisis talks in New York to plot a way forward for January and the rest of the season'

Why are we asking the twat for signings in the second week of January and some more plan for the future bullshit? Is the old plan, written on the back of a fag packet already up in smoke? I have no idea if it's true or not but it sounds amateurish so sounds about our level. What are they thinking day to day?

And all businesses have a contingency plan. Maybe this is to set that in motion which frankly is the end of us in the PL. It will be an acknowledgment that relegation has been accepted and a message to Garde that there is no point spending for the sake of it in January. If that is the case expect Garde to say fuck it, I'm out.

Stop being sensible and pragmatic. These  "crises talks in New York" provides all the smoke and mirrors we need.

Jesus Christ we've left it till the middle of January to discuss strengthening the squad. The place is a bloody mad house.

We must have had more crisis meetings than I've had beans on toast. And I like beans on toast. A lot.

If that's the case, I couldn't blame him for going, not one bit. Having said that, he has had ten games to get them going. It's a tough one but I don't think anyone could blame him from walking.
