Aston Villa: Guus Hiddink calls on Remi Garde to show some respect over Loic Remy

The Chelsea boss isn't happy it seems

22:30, 30 DEC 2015
BY MAT KENDRICK

Guus Hiddink has told Remi Garde to show Chelsea some respect after the Aston Villa boss revealed his interest in Loic Remy.

Garde is keen to take the French striker on loan for the rest of the season as he looks to breathe life into Villa's creaking Premier League survival mission.

But Hiddink is not impressed with a rival manager discussing his players in public and the Chelsea interim boss insists Remy's main challenge is to prove his fitness at Stamford Bridge.

Asked to respond to Garde's comments about Villa wanting Remy, Hiddink replied: “I think, from our point of view, I don't think we or the management will go into a similar situation.

"You have to respect where the players are. If you are interested, talk first to the people with whom they are contracted. You cannot go into details.”

Remy is currently battling a calf injury and Hiddink has challenged the 28-year-old French international to force his way in at Chelsea.

“The player has signed a contract here and must be fit for us," said Hiddink. "He's having a difficult time regarding his injuries. He has to prove first of all that he's a good Chelsea player. He has a calf problem for several days.”

We'd be absolutely fuming if it was the other way round with calls for the club to issue a statement / denial.

Not sure I'd be that fussed if the player in question being talked about was someone who rarely played for us...

Remy isn't signing. Half the league would have him and, having just glanced at the table, I'm going to guess he won't be interested.
That's just about the easiest assumption to make.

The Remy speculation is just to appease the fans, when he doesn't sign on loan, they can say well we tried!
Doug used to do it all the time to get the fans on his side.
That's my view as well however I am surprised that Garde is talking about it which is wrong at many levels.

Maybe it is wrong, but it's nice to see a manager of Chelsea squawking about another club treating them like a bunch of lightweights. Especially when the other club is us.

Too little too late. Thanks to Randy 's policy of not upsetting other clubs we have appointed those out of a job rather than go for a manager of a club already employed. Not Garde's fault but we are Villa and should be much prouder about ourselves. Good on Garde for showing some ambition.

No if this post was written in the 1980's, I'd assume the deal was done and he was posing next to his club car. Possibly a beige Allegro.

That's a strange filing system. I'd really struggle to find anything in your cabinets.
