If you remember the start of the West Ham game, they attacked down Hutton's side straight away and it's no surprise it's that side of the pitch is where the goal eventually came from. I like his hard work, commitment and the fact that he bombs forward and for that alone it would almost be a shame to drop him, but he's such a mediocre defender.

His primary purpose in the team is to perform defensive duties competently. The attacking side of the game is secondary, otherwise you may as well play Bacuna there all of the time.

It looks to me that he enjoys the easy part of the game i.e. running freely with the ball but does not want to put the hard yards in. This is why I do not agree with those that say he puts a lot of effort in. Add this to defensive positioning and not knowing when to cross or being able to direct a cross and you have a player that needs replacing quickly. He wastes so much of our possession.

Hutton was exposed but made no effort to move towards the player to try and push him wide to hold up play for others to get back

Hutton should never have stood off Cresswell in the way that he did. With the modern light ball you can't give people a free whack from 25 yards.

Most opposition attacks are coming down our right flank, there is a reason why.

I'd add the onside ball watching at Newcastle to the recent list of his costly mistakes. I sort of admire him for getting past the bomb squad/new contract  circus but the truth is that he is a very limited player and a significant liability.

It's a tough one as a full back. If he had got closer to him he risks him nipping past and putting the side in more trouble and getting slagged off for over committing. That is why defenders should not be left one on one. He could, possibly, have done a little better but the main problem was one of organisation and leaving him exposed.

Agree with all points about Hutton he does work hard but that i expect as a pre requisite, his attitude is also very good but his application and ability is lousy. I too would prefer Bacuna at RB as i think he offers a lot more in all elements of the RB role. Im not sure Richards at RB would offer anything better going forward as i cont remember him being a decent crosser of the ball.

Bacuna is probably the best crosser of the ball we have, from that right side anyway. Maybe playing him in front of Hutton may be an idea once a new left back comes in.

He was miles out of position, I can't beleive that was down to organisation. He was past the penalty spot on the left hand side of the pitch, no right back should be that far across particularly when 30 years from his own goal. He got pulled towards the ball which allowed Cresswell the time and space to pick where he would hit his shot. Positionally and tactically very naive.

Like others I can't fault his effort and like the lad but he is costing us goals just like Richardson was. A rejig or replacement is vital in my opinion.

Hutton sums up the Villa side. He tries his best but is a little bit shit. File under Guzan, Bacuna, Westwood, Gestede and with Lescott finished that's over half the first team who are pants and is why we are going down. Richards should be playing right back.

Remi Garde has to tell Richards to play at RB and he needs to buy a FIT left back in the window. After he has bought a GK.

Maybe he has, and Richards is staying 'injured' until a CB gets injured and he's needed there ;-)

Agree with most of this. Our players try their best but they're just not good enough for this level and they're dragging us down to the Championship. We've had nearly 6 seasons of buying substandard players and it's finally coming home to roost.

The established players we have aren't good enough, and the good players we have aren't ready yet. It's a frustrating and doomed mixture.

We're down so buying anyone in January would be folly. Paying premiership wages to attract players who will be plying their trade in the Championship come May is stupid. Leave it till the end of season because at least we'll know who we can get rid of, and who will be poached in the firesale

To be fair, if three clubs deserve to go down it's all three of us. Absolute shithouses at the moment. Stinking, awful, hideous, repulsive shithouses. We're each a rotting, festering trap at the end of a backwater pub with no working lock that someone shat their guts all over, 5 years ago and no one has had the desire to clean it since. They just propped an out of order sign on until some dopey bastard decides he wants to buy a shit pub that is in danger of being beyond repair.

Completely agree Tom, the promoted teams deserve to stay up and get the cash bonanza as they've all attacked the prem brilliantly.

Us and the North east lot have been horribly run for years, I'd imagine most neutrals would be hoping the bottom 3 stays as it is.
