Gil is our most creative player? And with that sentence it is clear to see why we are going down.

It's probably more to do with a shit manager who kindly wrote off the first quarter of the season for us.

Our most creative player's stats correct to some point in the last week or two:

Position                                           Apps   Goals   Assists   Rating
Sub (Substitute)                              5               0                 0   6.21
FWR (Forward - Right)                      3               0                 0   6.52
AMR (Attacking Midfielder - Right)      2               1                 0   7.4
MR (Midfielder - Right)                      1               0                 0   6.37

Again, no wonder we're going down. He is lightweight, drifts in and out of games, isn't quick enough on the ball, and shows the odd moment of ability sporadically. He wouldn't shine in the Championship.

I agree Pete he is lightweight and too easily knocked off the ball but there are other players who i would want to see gone before him. I like the way Garde is saying it straight, commit to the cause or leave.

I do hope we move Gil on he is rather poor. Get a defensive midfielder in who can get the ball dictate the pace of play, and also get a foot in.

Gil isn't poor. He's one of our only players who wants the ball. The problem is we stick him out on the wing rather than the #10 position as I like to call it.

Well 3 managers have seen him now and none of them seemed to think that was his position.

Without doubt Robbo. The list is long. That Gil is on it doesn't mean he is the only problem, just one of many.

Lambert signed him as a #10, I think the signing of Gil gave us the "as I like to call them" quote. Sherwood never liked Gil, that much is clear. Garde has been here for 5 minutes, I have faith in him to figure it out.

Gil must have more than one win - Bournemouth in the FA Cup last season

Oh yeah forgot about that one

still 16 league apps 0 wins

You could apply that to the whole first team since August.

His stats still don't bear that out:

Season         Team           Tournament   Apps   Mins      Goals   Assists
2015/2016   Aston Villa   EPL           6(5)            534       1              -
2014/2015   Valencia           SLL           2(6)            267     1              1
2014/2015   Aston Villa   EPL           4(1)      359      -        1
2013/2014   Elche           SLL          29(3)    2532   1              3
Total / Average                                 56            3692   3              5

It's not why anything thinks he's a number 10 that puzzles me but what was seen to justify his signing.

We've been crying out for someone to play in behind the striker for ages. Gil was a smart signing, let's not pretend otherwise.

He'd not long turned 22 when we signed him, maybe they thought there was more to come from a young player?

There are players that we virtually gave away performing quite well at other clubs, just saying like.

I'm with Peter. He has skill, but his all round game is woefully inadequate, in a team that is already woefully inadequate.

A goalkeeper would be the first position I would like to see filled.
A tough tackling box to box midfielder who knows we're the net is next and a left back ( on loan from the Arsenal no doubt)
