There will probably be a few loan deals. As said, it could be difficult getting players in on permanent contracts in our position.

i would take crouch on a permanent deal he would be a good bit of insurance, if we escape then he's a decent back up if we drop he is still good enough to score a lot in the championship.

Crouch is a good shout. I'd be inclined to try and get Remy on loan from Chelsea too.

Why would Remy go from being number 2 striker at Chelsea and competing in Europe to an already doomed Villa?

We're a long way from doomed.

Maybe on paper but to a player getting game time at one of the biggest clubs in Europe, I doubt joining Villa in the New Year doomed or not is high on his wish list.

What is absolutely vital in the January window is that players are identified early (ie now) & deals are done in the first week not the last week of window.

On Remy - doubt he'll be so high up the pecking order at Chelsea come January; they'll spend. He needs games to be in contention for the Euros.

How about Corinthians keeper Cassio. Theyve just won their league, he is Brazils no 3, 28 years old, 6ft 5 but he did have 3 failed years at PSV.

Phil bardsley can play left back decent enuff for task at hand. Doesn't get game time ahead at stoke I'd bring him and odewimgie on loan. Take flamini and ben arta as French players who can come in make an impact

Bet he's good at calculating the angles.

Bloody hell there's some duds there. Phil Bardsley who wasn't a particularly good right back being played out of position, Odewingie who's always injured and Ben Arfa who was bombed out of Newcastle and Hull due to attitude. Flamini might be a reasonable suggestion.
