Its a start. Massively impressed by the attitude, spirit, and organization - the game remains simple in its basics (which is why its a great game). Remi clearly had a huge impact, and as others said, his demeanor on the sideline is a world away from the other idiots previously entrusted with this great club.

But not getting carried away either. We ought to have been beaten, no shots on target, and holding on for dear life at the end. Remi and the players still have a mountain to climb to get out of the hole we are in.

Baby steps .... happy tonight

We defended better against them last year and ended up losing 2-0. Hutton poor marking for the two good chances but it's for them to score them, they didn't. So, 0-0. The thing for me is that we were breathing too heavily too quickly which showed that the conditioning of the players wasn't great under the previous manager and also, that it took less than one week to get them organised. I shows the players wanted to do it, could do it, but that they weren't set up to be it.

Little attacking intent but we were playing top of the table so we could still have done little and been in 11th. Small acorns and all that. Very pleased with the point.

How did those of you watching on TV  saw the Gestede/Hart throw in incidents. From upper Witton End I saw it as the throw back was a bit harsh but Hart could have left it rather than trying to play it and giving the corner away? City players going mad I did not understand however fair play to Kompany who told them to get on with it.

I thought Gestede was trying to throw it out for a goalkick. A bit dicky, but nothing to justify the way that some City fans have lost their minds over it.

Watching it on TV Gested was pointing Hart towards his area as if he wanted to throw it there. Why Hart decided to insist on receiving the ball where he was seems strange, tough shit if he couldn't control it.

Hart was tapping his chest as if to tell Rudy he wanted to receive it, chest it down and whack it.
Rudy did exactly what Hart wanted, but with a little bit more pace than Hart was expecting.
Oh well, tough shit.

I don't know why hart was going so mental. He should've let Gestede throw the ball straight out for a goal kick.

I thought Hart was trying to stop the ball going out for a goal kick so he could pick the ball up and launch another attack quicker

Hart had already been complaining to the ref about Villa timewasting

Encouraging.  Thought we looked a lot more solid and organised, and although we didn't create too many chances, we did threaten a times.  What pleased me most was that the midfield at last looked balanced and worked well.  I thought Gil showed some nice touches, but a lot of his good play was in deep positions and we could do with him producing it further up the pitch.  The defence looked OK, though Amavi looks a little suspect defensively and almost all their good chances came from his side.

So hard to watch it on TV - should have been there instead playing in an over 50ths  County Squash match and lost.

Anyway  to me a spirited performance.  Fear however that we may need more than that to survive.  We desperately need a No 9 (Charlie Austin are you listening).

Our season will be determined on results against teams around us in a mini league if you like rather than a surprise point against top of the table.

Having found that pic on Blue Moon I read the first 10 pages or so of their post-match thread. It's very very funny.

Page 5 last post is priceless.  What would her have done after three years of Lambert and six months of Sherwood?  You's see the explosion in Alpha Centauri with the naked eye....

Just home. Very, very important game. Massive team performance. The fact that Remi can put out the team after five days that we have been screaming for since September tells you just how out of touch and provocative Sherwood was. Sanchez was my man of the match with Veretout, Clark and Hutton not far behind.

What did the Chinese Emperors say about Generals must be lucky?

It was just nice not to lose but it was so much better. It was organised, the subs were spot on (the Bacuna one especially) and yes, we did ride our luck a bit but it's about bloody time we had some. Onwards and upwards hopefully.

Enjoyable performance, we knocked it round well and matched them far more than you would expect the bottom club to. Looking forward again now, there is hope!

I actually saw passing AND movement off the ball at times. It scared me.

Yes we rode our luck but at times we played some really neat possession football, especially in the first half. Garde now has 2 weeks to work with the team and hopefully we can improve from here on. The season starts now!

Remi Garde got it right today.

Correct line up. Good subs at good times.

Only problem was we forced them wide, and our full backs got so narrow at times.

Nice to break the trend of getting beat. Well done.

I got to about page 25 when I gave up. It was very funny, but a couple of things struck me. I'm glad we moderate as we do as the amount of insults they were giving each other was ridiculous. And also just how many plastics they have now that think they have some divine right to success.
