Not going to repeat all the positives which have already been listed, but I really enjoy having two of our midfielders in Veretout and Gana having the ability to carry the ball forward with skill.

The passing in the final third obviously needs work though. Will be interesting to see whether Kozak and/or Adama come back in.

Encouraging, especially from the midfield 3 of Sanchez, Gana and Veretout. I think that 3 could gain us the upper hand in games against a lot of teams.

Quite amusing listening to Richards and CLark in the post-match interview - they're really trying to be polite on questions about how Garde has changed things already at the club. The most telling comment came from Clark - he said "I think you could see it on the pitch, we were much more organised" (or words very similar to that).

I thought Sanchez was awesome today. He fought for everything like his life depended on it.

We got our fight back , some of the tackles and challenges were great to see from Hutton,Clark and Richards.

Amavi needs to whip that cross ball , to many times he went back . Gil was great for 60 minutes and I  was impressed with Sanchez today and Veretout and Gana with a run of games will be great.

Sinclair I was disappointed with in fact Charles did more in his cameo and Ayew to be fair worked hard.

Still not sure about Brad , some mistakes and some good stops .

its a pleasing one point as most media experts had it down 5-0 to them. Yes we rode our luck but we deserved that today.

Not sure where we will score a lot of goals but he still has Kozak , Adama and Grealish to work on.

I feel better than two weeks ago .

I thought Clark, Sanchez and Veretout in particular did very well. Gil very good first half but faded in the second.  Ayew worked really hard.

That's the first time I've really seen anything in Veretout - there were signs of an extremely good footballer today.

Amavi seems to have lost some confidence in getting the ball into the box. I suppose that's what being dropped for no good reason and replaced by Kieron Richardson does for you. Nice one Tim.

A draw against the top side. A clean sheet. A manager only 5 days in charge. My weekend not spoiled. Well done villa.

Having posted on page 2 about the positives, I'm now having a flirtation with negative thoughts in so much as despite all the effort and better shape we could've easily be sat here talking about a 2-0 defeat. How Guzan got his bonce in the way and their fella hit the bar from a few yards certainly showed we had a bit of luck today. Long may it continue.

Alan Hutton was very good today.

Yeah, I was just about to give him a shout as all the attention is on our midfield. He's been good for the last few games, always gives everything and today was no different. He deserves a lot more credit than he gets.

Garde was watching with intensity all the game unlike Lambert and Sherwood leaning back in their seats looking mournful.
I genuinely think this guy is the real deal...everything he's done so far has been very impressive and thats already carried over into a much improved performance on the pitch.

You can see him literally and intensely watching and thinking during the whole match...he's the kind of manager that will eat, sleep and shit football for his team and his club. I'm very confident that he'll get the results we need to keep us comfortably safe from relegation.

Not only well done to the team and new management team, but well done to Fox and all involved with appointing Remi Garde.

It'll be interesting to see what Sherwood's mates have to say, when there was so obvious an improvement with the same squad of players.

They are making it all about how bad/unlucky Citihad were.

First time ive watched since Bornemouth. Villa did us proud today. You cant ask any more than that. First half I think we actually just about shaded it. second half, we did well up until we started to tire round about 75 mins. But what a performance? keeping the ball, using it, knocking it around. No way this team should be bottom.

We've a new guy in, picked the kind of team that a lot of people on this site have been clamouring for, for weeks and what happens, we get a good performance and whilst not really near a win, we looked very good for a point.

Excellent performance Villa. Onwards and upwards. We'll be right this season if we can get near that kind of play every week.

Twenty minutes after a Villa game finished, and I'm not feeling gutted. In fact, I would almost describe myself as "happy". Happy? Ah yes, I remember that...
