Gil, Grealish, Westswood, Richardson, Ayew. All completely lightweight players as well. Gil and Jack do damage in areas of the pitch where it matters not a jot, there's no penetration. They need to be 15 yards further forward interlinking, and have a forward in front of them they can hit with through balls and link with too, Rudy, lovely head but feet like two sacks of cement, pretty much useless as we are. Gueye and Westwood, shit combination, Westy needs to fuck off for his own good now, get Sanchez in there, get Veretout in there. Give Jack and Gil a bit of freedom, get them further forward and have them with Ayew centrally. If it doesn't work fine but surely it's better than all the square peg, round hole rubbish we are trying at the moment.

To be honest we are really regretting no replacing Benteke with a proven scorer, I think we are toast, there's even less goal threat in this side than last year.

Pretty much what I think, although I'm less harsh on Westwood (good player there, but completely out of form and now just learning how to be bad). 4-3-3 with a lot of freedom for Jack and Gil wide of Ayew, and a midfielder with Sanchez sitting and Gana and Veretout swirling around a bit.

This seems better, with the alternative of Traore

The goal threat isn't good enough but it's not worse than last season. It took us until Dec and 14 games to match the 8 in 9 we have this season.

I presume we will still insist on giving the team a standing ovation before the game next Saturday!! What a bunch of wallies us fans are.
No wonder the club thinks we are all mugs.

With confidence low the last thing the team needs was a stupid pass out to a marked defender and a flucky deflection. But I think that is the team except for Richardson/Armarvi that he has to start and build around from now on. We had 50% possession at Stamford bridge and had Gestede`s goal gone in who knows. Sherwood has got to have a base team what he can then change a couple of players from without losing our shape and understanding ......

Guzan is very much the weak link. I have been saying it for ages now. For the sake of the club's future he HAS GOT TO GO. The defence will continue to be shaky until they have a keeper behind them that they can trust. The most annoying thing in all this is Sherwood knew this when he dropped him after the Man CiŁy debacle and did not address it in the summer.

I have to say he did try to buy Begovic in the summer but was surprised we didn't get someone else in.

I don't believe we are in a position where we can afford to have Jack and Gill on the pitch at the same time, both are not good enough when it comes to picking up their man when not in possession and leave us too light weight. there attributes are there passing but when as stated on numerous post's there is no movement in front of them, we then become too slow and predictable.
None of this is helped by Dim trying to score points over who's player was bought with his say so and who was not. Make us more solid and for fuck sake get these so called players match fit.

Poor and at least 2 should be dropped. Clark in for Lescott, Sanchez for Westwood. Could even consider Bunn for Guzan.

What a way to waste half an hours good work where we looked the better side and had created the only decent opening of the match.

After that it's always a tough task.

The routine nature of the soft goals we concede is systemic.

This sums it up for me - these are the kind of goals you give away when you're really struggling.  I thought for the first half an hour we played ok, under the circumstances.

WHY OH WHY do we pass it back to Guzan on his right foot ???
as it came back to him I just thought - ok we did have the ball in their half but just tonk it down the field - they can't score if it's down there.

The second goal - well - isn't that just typical of how things go when you're in this predicament - also half chances like Gestede's go in - when you're playing confident.

I'll tell you what's boring, Tim. Losing, week in, week out. It's also a bit soul-destroying for added shitness value.
