Joe Cole Sent To Coventry
« on: October 16, 2015, 05:10:11 PM »
We've shipped him out to our dear departed former "local rivals" on an emergency loan, apparently. What a great signing he was!

Blimey, what's he done to deserve that?

Thanks for the goal at Burnley. Other than that what a bizarre signing . File alongside Jenas , Pires and Senderos

Quote
Cole’s wages, which are likely to be around the £20,000 a week mark, would have been a stumbling block but it seems where there’s a will there’s a way, the likelihood being that the player has agreed to forego some of his pay packet.

Pires was one of the few players we could sign at the time as we could only sign out of contract players. We needed a player so signed what was probably the best available. Ultimately he wasn't good enough but it was hardly a bizarre signing.

Where's the quote about him being on £20k a week from? Surely it's not that low. And I can't imagine Cov being able to afford to pay for his eels and mash to be taxi'd-up from Canning Town never mind anything else.

Cov local paper. It was said at the time we signed him he was taking a big drop in wages.

Still £20K pet week isn't bad for a pension.

2 year deal if I remember rightly, so until the end of this season.

He'd been training with a non-league side hadn't he, and to be honest, didn't even look fit enough for that.

A Cov fan at work told me about Cole. I asked him to provide a chair for him in the centre circle. He said Cov can't afford that!
