I think bringing Adebayor in would ultimately compound our problems. He's a nutter and it would end in tears.
I'd line everything up now to get Charlie Austin on January 1st.

Austin would make this a much better team. Always been doubts that he can really lead the line, but with the creative players we have I think we could manage to find a way.

Austin is truly a natural goal scorer. It's blatantly obvious that's what we need. Not signing him in the summer was a monumental fuck up.

Newcastle f***ed up as well then?  There is more to Austin not going anywhere than meets the eye.

There's a few urban legends about him having a fondness for the White stuff. But I don't know about the legitimacy of that.

All I see is a striker who cannot stop scoring goals.

All I hear is fans of many clubs saying something doesn't smell quite right about Austin.

You just answered your own question there.

I wouldn't want Adebayor on anything more than a 6 month contract. He'd have to be a stop gap.

Not strictly true, what we need is an ability to see out games, which was evidenced at the weekend. I wouldn't describe not signing Austin as a 'monumental fuck up'. I agree we need a forward, but I wouldn't solely be looking at Austin.

The Villa squad is full of goals. The problem is staring us in the face in neon letters ten feet high. We are making too many stupid defensive mistakes and giving away too many soft goals. We need a good goalkeeper ten times more than we need Austin or Adebayor. When we have got a goalkeeper of Premiership standard we need a right back.

If Timmy is going to play Gil/Traore, Grealish, Sinclair and Gabby then I would be perfectly happy with Huttinho at right back.

Isn't it a mixture of both?

The goals potential is certainly better than recent seasons, but we're still only scoring at just over a goal a game vs. mediocre opposition.

A better goalie and full back wouldn't do any harm, but I think the inability of the team as a whole to retain possession and control tight games is a bigger worry.
