I couldn't care less whether we win or lose. I am just not interested in this match. I just think we ought to concentrate all our major resources in staying in the Premier League. I was hoping we were going to see a massive improvement this season but once again we have been badly let down. It is no different from the last few seasons and my depression following Saturdays match has not yet lifted.

I am beginning to wonder where Tim Sherwood is taking us in the next few months.

I agree - as much as a visit to Wembley in March would be a pleasant distraction I`d rather we concentrate on picking up 40 points as soon as we can.

I'm still believing we're going to win this game despite injuries. A solid, no sweating, three nil win. Richards, Grealish and of course Gabby.

I agree, but Timmy is going to be torn.  He's such a tubthumper that he knows this game is massive to him getting the fans on side so he'll want to win, no doubt, whereas in reality he probably would bin this cup off to concentrate on the league.

This game is massive to Sherwood and he knows it.  He knows people are starting to question him and the last thing he needs is these berks turning up at Villa Park and rolling us over.

Lose tomorrow and the rumblings of discontent will grow.

We have to play our strongest possible side (whatever that might be!) and go all out for the win

Confidence is a massive part of the game and a good win could help us kick on and start to pick up a few more points in the League.

To lose this one on the back of a complete non performance v The Baggies will kill us in terms of confidence and I'd be seriously worried going into our next run of games.

As someone once said "let's fuck the fuckers"

Not looking forward to this at all. Feel as nervous as Babe the day he got invited to 10 Downing Street.

I don't get this attitude that this game is irrelevant or we should chuck it or whatever nonsense people are saying. Firstly, I never want Villa to lose a game. Secondly, it's against them lot. I think this game is important, very important, and I care a lot about whether we win or not. In fact it will dictate my mood for the rest of the week considerably. That's what football's about.

I'd play

              Guzan

      Richards Clark Lescott

Bacuna                          Amavi

    Veretout Sanchez Sinclair

       Gestede   Ayew

Give Ayew the opportunity to get on the scoresheet and it could be the catalyst for his season. Gestede's proven against the level of opposition.  Bring Grealish and Gabby on with 20 minutes to go to run them ragged.

I think in any other circumstances going out of the League Cup early would not be regarded as a disaster, but this is against "that lot" and I reckon the result of this game will have a big impact on our immediate future.   There's already quite a bit of discontentment towards Tim and losing tomorrow will devastate the players ahead of what's now an important game at Anfield - for me it's a game we MUST win.

Just glad up here in Stafford I won't have many (if any) of the clowns jumping and down if the worst happens.  I was working in the City Centre through most of the 1970s and as somebody mentioned earlier that period 76-78 when they beat us 5 times in a row was a nightmare time to work with any noses.

Riding the Cross City line from Bournville to New Street there was some graffitti on a wall as you approached Selly Oak Station ...
It read " Five in a row ha ha ha " Made my blood boil each time I saw it

I see Gana is out again after aggravating the original injury. Seems crazy to me that he trained on it last week less than 2 weeks after injuring it on International duty. Hamstring strains usually require at least 2 to 3 weeks rest/treatment before any training. I do wonder at our medical/fitness staff. Okore was supposed to be back this month, now, although he's resumed training, Sherwood reckons he won't be ready for at least 4 weeks. Have a bad feeling about this game.
