This is exciting news. No comparison with this time last year when we were completely underwhelmed by the signings of Richardson, Senderos and Cole.

There is no way that picture was taken today that's for sure.

Not wanting to talk in cliches, but this signing- if nothing else- really is a statement of intent, and it's a been a long, long time since we made one of those.

Well done Villa.

Great news. This has been one of the best, if not the best transfer windows for the Villa ever.

AVFC - the gift that keeps on giving. I didn't think I could be further surprised by this deal since it dragged out quite a while - but never with any mention of a 5 year deal - well done Villa!

Wonder when that pic was taken? Not today judging by the weather!

Is it Sherwood or Almstadt that has turned this club on it's head?

Both

From Barca's website:

Quote
FC Barcelona and Aston Villa FC have reached an agreement for the transfer of Adama Traore for 10 million euros plus two million more if certain conditions are met.

FC Barcelona reserves the right to buy back the player during the first three years of the player’s contract and also has the right of first refusal for any possible future transfer.

The Club wishes to publicly express its gratitude to Adama Traoré for his professionalism and dedication while with the Club, as well as to wish him all the best in the future.

Up until this point I have been very impressed with pre season buys, and hoping for a mid table finish.
This is the icing on the cake with sprinkles, great exciting player.
Well done everybody behind the scenes who managed this great acquisition.

I just hope that all of you football academics are correct in your excitement of this player - he is after all a 19 year old kid so can we afford to lump so much expectation on him?

Anyway - can he play tonight?

Only possible fly in the exciting ointment - some are saying on Twitter that Barca have an option to buy back up to 3 years into his contract ?? - Does this mean if he is good then they can just take him back for an agreed price , almost like they have loaned him to us to improve ?

£7 mil being reported

You know there might just be something to the theory that we have a new benefactor behind the scenes

Lets face it considering the club is up for sale and Randy has already dropped his asking price by £50 m it would have been easy enough to pocket the cash as he wants out.

Me thinks exciting times ahead
