Because they have one or two half-decent players anyway, and because, under Spanish rules, all players have a release clause. If you meet it, there's nothing they can do.

But what happens if two sides go for him and one offers more than the clause?

They have no choice but to let him go. He has a release clause. Do you just ask questions then ignore the answers?
