As ever when linked strongly to a player that looks bloody good, I am convinced he will go elsewhere.

Ditto I suspect we might end up disappointed.

Would Pedro departing affect the deal?  Theoretically it might bump Traore up a place in the rank and mean he is closer to the Barca first team.

From what I have read he has not trained at all pre-season - or at least been excluded from the main sessions - so I suspect that he would still be a few players away from getting into the squad.

Yep.

I thought the same thing about Veretout, so you never know.

Don't think so. This move is very much part of his development - we pay for him on the cheap and pay his wages, and Barca can sign him back on the cheap at any point during his contract with us.

If we want to sign him to a new deal we'll need to renegotiate with Barca. We're OK to sell him elsewhere, but Barca will have to be notified.

Ultimately, this is a loan that can be cut short at any time. If he does well, but not well enough for Barca, they'll sign him back for ~£8m and sell him on for more.

I think it would be more than 8m probably double whatever we pay.

Like what happened with Veretout when the Giiants of the East (Midlands) Leiecster nipped in at the last minute...

Experience. Like a dog who has been beaten by its owner - it will always be a little wary of men carrying sticks.

Have you been a Villa fan long? Good things happen rarely. Good players don't all arrive and play together at the same time. A joined up genuinely planned approach is for other clubs. We need a Hardwood and Bowery to temper the fell good vine that's letting people think good players will keep coming.

I'm from across the Atlantic and decided to follow a Premier League soccer franchise. All my buddies support clubs like Chelsea and Arsenal. I wanted a team that wins. So on Monday I decided I picked your team, Aston Villa. Been exciting so far, lots of players coming in through the draft and we won our game against a team I can't pronounce. Is it always like this?

How about Joey Barton?
