I caught a train from Euston with a load of rugger buggers a few years ago. I can honestly say I have never in my life smelt so many pungent farts in my life. The stench was absolutely appalling.

Serves em right for getting on a train with me after I've had a skinful.
Well done Sir!

No-one should cross me when I'm batting on a sticky wicket.

I do like watching the Ashes on the TV, but all that "Bumble" nonsense and him with his fivefer crap makes me want to put my foot through the telly.

I think there are some good commentators / analysts on cricket (Vaughan for thought, Boycott for forthright opinions) but the TMS programme just leaves me reaching for the vacuum cleaner.

TMS is superb radio. However, I would drop Blowers from the team.

Da Beeb should try to get Ed Smith on more, with the aim of him taking over from Aggers at some point

Well, Class-of-82, the ruggeristas aren't always so tolerant of the anthem. When I was at school I made my debut and swansong against the Ercall Wood XV. I, as you put it, belted it out and I was the only one! I was treated like a pariah afterwards too.

Yes, I may be biased, but in my opinion Ce Ce Peniston 's You Got The Love never sounded so poignant as on that Wednesday afternoon in Shropshire in November 1993.

Shame on you.

Candi Staton did "You Got the Love", Ce Ce Peniston's hit was "Finally", which she seemingly released dozens of times in the 90s.

TMS is my favourite thing on the radio and puts the Sky commentary team to shame who sound like a bunch of ex players all trying to outdo each other in the bar after a round of golf. It is defintely time to say goodbye to Henry Blofeld and limit Graeme Swann's appearances and 'comedy' turns, I was impressed with Jonathon Trott when he made an appearance

Oh great, thanks. By association I've now got that ginger caterwauler going through my head.

There's only one way to get rid of this; altogether now:

'the wheels on the bus go round and round...'

'The batsman's Holding, the bowlers Willey.'
Other way round.
Are you sure? The bowlers Willey, the batsman's Holding isn't the slightest bit amusing.

That was an answer on Only Connect this week.

Who remembers when Heroes and Villans was an answer on Only Connect? Meaning the fanzine, not the Beach Boys song or any other meaning of the phrase.

I'm going to out myself here and admit I can't watch anything with Victoria Coren in. Her smart arsery gets right up my nose. Steven Fry too, although she is more pleasing on the eye.

Was the answer 'King of the Kippax'?

Well, I'll stand shoulder to shoulder with you then, Chris. "Only Connect" is just a total festival of smugness. And Victoria Coren is particularly unfunny on it.

Even though he is a biased Lancashire bloke, Bumble when he does the county 20/20 is hilarious.  The other week the Bears were away at Lancashire and the camera panned to a family in the crowd wearing Hawaian shirts.  Bumble said 'Look at this lot here, come all the way from Hawaii to spend two weeks in Manchester.'
