So, who replaces Benteke ?
« on: July 17, 2015, 01:21:07 PM »
The world isn't about to end folks !

£32.5m in the bank.

I'd go for Patrick Bamford ( maybe on loan) and Charlie Austin.

No £30m striker is coming here. I'd go for a proven player plus a potential star if we can get them. I don't watch as much foreign footy as I used to but to me the obvious contenders are below, some of which are ambitious:

Batshuayi, martial, embolo, Bamford, afobe,

Austin, adebayor,

Minus the fee to Genk.

I like Bamford, but would prefer Remy, then Austin.

I think I'd go for someone young with lots of potential for now because if we plan to keep Kozak and Gabby we need to trust them both to be good enough and if that's the case they should be fine for the experienced options so we need to look for people who will overtake them in a year or 2.

I understand that some will say it's a big gamble (and it is) but what role do they have if we sign an experienced striker for now and a youngster, injury cover and the odd sub appearance, will that work?

as long as it's not Adebayor, Grant Holt, Mad Mario, Ricky Lambert et al I don't really mind; really enthusiastic by the links to Embollo, Ayew, and Martial etc.

I'd really like to see Bamford play here, particularly being supplied by Grealish/Gil et al. Austin wouldn't be too bad at all as long as he's sub £12m and we'll have the rest of the money to spend on others, including Amavi, and maybe another CM.

Maybe TS sees Robinson and Green as the hopefuls in that role.

TS now has to prove him (and possibly Benteke) wrong by getting this club back into contention for something more than relegation.
