Gil looks the business *

*this level, pre season, not the league I know I know, but still.

Gil could become our own Zola. He's got a great eye for what's going on around him and if we can get an intelligent forward to play in front it could be very promising.

If Gil turned out to be half the player Zola was I'd be more than delighted. What a player he was.

no arguments there. He was superb and chipped in with some outstanding goals too.

Anyone else finding themselves in a degree of turmoil at the revelation it is pronounced "Ammer vee" rather than "Amarr vee"?

Zola was easily one of the top ten players in the PL era, in my book.

From what I've seen Amavi looks pretty handy.

Yep, and a fella you could like even though he played for teams you didn't

Yes, I heard that on WM this morning and it disturbed my equilibrium .

Zola was easily one of the top ten players in the PL era, in my book.

In no particular order

Bergkamp (he's in order)
Keane
Henry
Pires
Viera
Van Nistelrooy
Van Persie
Shearer
Giggs

Always thought Zola good but overrated.

Id I took out the UK players then I'd put in Overmars and either Cahill, or even Suarez before Zola. Yorke too. If not only overseas players then I'd even have Gerrard ahread of him.

Gil and Amavi the standouts so far. Richards looks like a small overweight child. But hasn't done much wrong.

Bacuna has looked like a very angry competition winner,  aside from his help in setting up the goal.

Who's on the bench? Assuming Delph and Benteke will play in the second half?

I can't believe you've got a list that long and yet Francis Benali doesn't get a mention!

Finally find a stream and they're watering the pitch.

Never really judge pre season against lowerl  league opposition. Doubt it will be the line up that starts at Bournemouth.
