I feel loads more animosity towards Wilkins than towards Sherwood. At least with Tim you can't doubt he's putting a shift in. Wilkins is here for one final pay day, it would seem. A 'motivational' manager can work if the coach has tactical acumen. Surely Wilkins can point out simple things like starting 5-3-2 against Stoke at home is wrong, that making an attacking substitution at 2-0 up is wrong, that not putting your better set piece players on corners is wrong, that changing your tactics and formation very match is befuddling the team. He is hopeless and lazy in my view.

Against all that is that Wilkins is without doubt a Sherwood appointment.  Even Nice but Tim must see the whole thing is going down the pan quicker than a post on the shithouse thread.

If he's appointed Wilkins to be "his brains" and it's still not working then either.

a.) He can see it's all a pile of shit but doesn't give a fuck
b.) He can see it's all a pile of shit and does give a fuck but he thinks that they'll turn it around despite all evidence to the contrary
c.)  He can see it's all a pile of shit and does give a fuck but doesn't want to give Wilkins the boot because? Well just because really.
d.) He's too thick to even see it's all a pile of shit

3 of those should be sacking offences and the one that isn't soon will be.

I couldn't give a flying if Tim's putting a shift in.

It's the same damning with faint praise reserved for shit players aiming for dizzy heights of mediocrity.  It's a polite way of saying, "works hard to make up for the fact that he's not very good."

I just dont get th, we have said all we can about the Manager so lets start on the number 2.
No one on here knows what is going on between the 2 of them.
The person responsible for the team and staff is the Manager, its that simple.

I kinda get impression Wilkins was just glad to get a job back in England again let alone the prem league and is not rocking the applecart

That selection yesterday at best would have gotten draw , with his time in football surely you would expect Wilkins to have seen this and said something ..

I thought of all our summer arrivals, Wilkins would have the most immediate impact. It's tough to know what happens away from match days but I hoped he would have assisted the new arrivals to settle quicker and helped Sherwood establish a discernible style.

I'm annoyed in the coaching staff for not stopping Sherwood do these crazy things that might see him out the door before he celebrates a year in charge.

I dont know, I get the feeling Sherwood wont listen to any of his coaching staff. Bringing Wilkins on board might have been a sop to the board to guard against his lack of experience. Tim Sherwood believes that Tim Sherwood has a divine right to manage and coach at the top level.

I suppose its just possible that the nice Ray Wilkins has made a few suggestions but Sherwood has decided Im in charge and totally ignored him.....and Wilkins wants to keep his well paid job....and who can blame him!

I don't think anyone is disputing that.
The issue is that the Bloater came in with the expectation that he would provide some technical nous, to support TS' inexperience; we do not appear to be seeing any payout, which begs the question "what the hell does he do?"
Since he is probably a Sherwood appointment, the manager is - naturally - accountable.

You know how bad it is getting when you get notions flash through your head that it is all a conspiracy.  Like Dwight Yorke who was indestructible suddenly camping out in the sick bay when Man Ure and Mark Bosnich started tapping him up.  Perhaps all is not well between Sherwood and Wilkins. "Go ahead and do it then. Why bother to ask me what I think, you are going to do it anyway?"

Especially when he can see a nice fat pay off in the not too distant future.

The impression I always got with Wilkins was that he's a coach rather than the assistant who worked on the tactical side of things (the most prominent example of the latter I can currently think of was Low before he took over for Klinsmann). We don't seem to have anyone with a reputation for being sound with setting teams up; but then again, even if we do, I somehow doubt Sherwood's ego would let them have much input.

Professionals make something hard look easy. Dim Tim isn't a professional manager, he's had 6 months training.

It's like giving a YTS (or whatever they're called these days) the keys to running the local Sainsbury's.

Dosen't Ray Wilkins speak French? I thought that was one of the reasons he came in to help the new signings and communicate with them in training.

To me this is like Roy Keane, people thinking a new assistant is going to instantly win us 10 points or something ridiculous, most just toe the line and are sounding boards to the boss to keep him company and wouldn't dare over rule him so a lot have limited influence.
