Do we insure players these days. If so, and injuries are preventing him getting fit, can't he retire and pick up the insurance.

I wondered that, maybe he was crocked and uninsurable.

Any reputable insurance company would cover themselves by the inclusion of feigned injury clauses.

He said sometime ago while trying to defend himself on Twitter that his knees make it impossible for him to play. I'm not sure what he's still doing here and why we haven't had him written off on the insurance.

We don't seem to do insurance claims.  Perhaps it goes back to Ellis being too much of a skinflint to pay the premiums.  Ivo Stas being the defining example.  Bought off a video complete with irreparable Achilles tendon injury.

To be fair, if the insurance company paid us his fair market value at the point he got injured we'd be no better off.

I thought he looked pretty decent in the first few games under Sherwood but as soon as Timmy left, he seemed to lose interest. It seemed a good idea at the time.......

In truth it was a terrible idea, Richards hadn't played consistently in years and had just bombed at a loan spell at Fiorentina. 4 year contract on huge wages, captaincy, centre half position... File along with Balaban at al. Don't buy the argument to hang on to him until end of contract or his positive influence on younger players. Should have come to a settlement with him ages ago.

What we need is to be able to get out of his contract. If he had insurance it would cover this. I do wonder whether we stopped insuring players due to cost v value. Why we ever signed him in his condition. We were mugged.

Sherwood moaning about the young France-based contingent on whom we've ended-up breaking even if not realising a profit while he pissed away millions on his old British reliables Lescott and Richards. Nice going, Tim.

That was at least one bullet well dodged.  And thank god we didn’t have to see them saluting each other *pukes*.

Didn't we claim on insurance against John Fashanu?  Seem to remember hearing something along those lines at the time?

2 years ago today ( my Facebook timeline kindly reminded me this morning) we were at Wycombe watching Richards being confronted by our own fans. And he's still drawing a wage from us?

Wycombe, what a farce that was - a town with the slowest serving Chip Shop I've ever been to. It was a good job I was pissed and starving or I'd have walked out

I think most of us were pleased when he signed for us on a 'free' transfer, unfortunately he has turned out to be a first rate tosser!
