I like the comment from Bruce about Richards, "he is fantastic around the place" if I was being paid as much as Richards, I would be fantastic as well!!

He was absolutely brilliant on the Christmas video when they went to the Children's Hospital the other year!

i've heard a lot of times that he is actually a really good guy around the place so some of the flack he gets is probably undeserved (it really pains me to say that) but the fact that he is paid an extortionate amount of money (particularly given the level we are at and the wage packets we are now able to offer) to play football and he just isn't very good at it should be the bottom line. The sooner we get rid of him and Gabby the better. It'll save £4 or £5m off the wage bill if nothing else!

whenever I hear a manager describe a player as a "great lad" or "fantastic to have around" I always think that is the type of comment that Harry Redknapp makes. These type of comments to me are very old school management.

We get to Villa Park quite early on match day and park in Villa Village car park.
The players always drive past us to go to the players car park and not once this season have we seen Richards.
He may get to the ground very early of course and that may be why we have not seen him

Much of Bruce's decisions on the pitch of late have been totally indefensible but I have to say his man management skills off it have been better than any manager we've had in donkey's years. If he can get the likes of Gabby and Richards along with McCormack to either shape up or ship out of Villa Park, then he's achieved nothing short of a minor miracle. It contrasts with Lambert's bomb squad.

Let's face it Richards the modern footballer will be happy going nowhere if he's sat on his arse stealing a living at VP. May as well try get him off it.

"Shape up or ship out of Villa Park"?  All three have Villa contracts.

and as proven by Gabby at the start of the season, you cant ship them out if they don't want to go

My point exactly CABB.  Wanting them shipped out and doing it are very different things.

Fair point, I could've worded it a bit better.

I want to hear positives about the wasters but it's a fine line when they should be nowhere near the teamsheet given where their careers are at.

Looks like he's travelled up to Newcastle with the squad.

If we dont play him we may as well pay him off the PV of his contract something he would presumbaly prefer anyway. Gets rid of a bad odour from the club
