The opener has a feel of pompey away in DOLs first season. Midday on a sat and a loss

It's a real banana skin opener. Bound to be on TV. Let's hope we ruin their party.

Really tough one this. Agree about the Pompey comparison. But in a way the expectation and bournemouths style might suit us.

Off the top of my head, we've been the first visitors at newly promoted Stoke and West Ham in recent years and lost. I'm probably repeating myself but this would have been my 38th choice of first game of the season.

Yet another away game. No doubts it'll be moved for telly and we get all caught up in the moment like at Pompey years ago and lose! That said, in fairness, it represents a great chance of winning.

When I first read your post I thought a banana skin opener sounded like a good idea. Then I realised it would more more trouble than just peeling them.

We were first visitors to newly-promoted Newcastle too. Going back further we were the friendly visitors who allowed Wimbledon to get their inaugural top flight win at the first attempt.

Can't remember us ever winning at a newly-promoted club. We drew 1-1 with West Brom once, Halsey cheated us as usual. That's the best we've done in the last three decades I think.

I was hoping for an away match because we are committed to being elsewhere that weekend, but I now would rather have missed the first home game than have no chance of going to Bournemeouth which we definitely were well up for.

The only consolation, is that it being drawn as the first match of the season gave us absolutely no chance of building a sufficient booking history to qualify for one of 800 tickets anyway! In most cases, even if I haven't got a good enough booking history, I can usually 'borrow' one, but I can't see that being the case here either!

Think we all agree it will be on TV, will it be the Saturday lunch time ?part of "Super Sunday" or the MNF graveyard slot ?

Yes, tickets are going to be hard to come by for this one. I did 9 aways last season and that may not be enough.

9 won't be enough.
Saving grace will be its holiday season so many regulars won't be around.

Be interested to see what Bournemouth charge? You'd expect no more than £30.

They've been known to give away fans up to 1,500 tickets although whether they will now they're promoted is another thing.

Let's hope they are forced to plough some of their PL windfall money into the stadium. Coming up with a 12,000 capacity ground is a bit of a joke.
